Damn you don't half come across some gems on youtube. I never really heard of this band until a couple of minutes ago. The vocals are just plain awesome. The music sounds pretty solid and well produced for the time and not really dated at all. They have great riffs and solos and memorable tunes with a more melodic slant than your harder hitting NWOBHM bands of the time. In the end it's the vocals that are doing it for me. Apparently they are a going concern and have a new album out too more in the AOR vein and that sounds good as well though it sounds far less metallic but still very melodic.

Yeah....I have a copy of Taken By Storm on cassette...actually, I was listening to it in my car a couple of months back (ahhh....old technology!). That was Max Bacon doing the vocals on that album....he had a very strong Dennis DeYoung vibe to his voice. Decent stuff!

Good band. It was the halfway point between Bacon's work in the harder rocking Nightwing and the prog/AOR band GTR.

ahhhh...GTR! Max Bacon is awesome. i have a CD of random demos and stuff he did and it's all awesome. such a great voice! his Bronz years were great too.

OMFG! GTR! Max Bacon! That's why that name sounds so familiar!!! :)
That would've been the Prog Supergroup formed by Steve Howe of Yes & Asia & Steve Hackett formerly of Genesis in 1985!!!
I think their only big hit was "When The Heart Rules The Mind", if I'm not mistaken?!

yes, they only did one album but there are so many great songs on it. i believe The Hunter was released as a single as well.

Wow where have I been. GTR sounds great and I've never even heard of them, well I'd never heard of Bronz or never heard a note until I started this thread either. This Max guy has blown me away with his voice. He's also got a touch of the Fergie Fredriksen's about him but I think Max maybe even better! Checking on ebay I can see this GTR cd fetches decent cash. Thanks for the tip!
