Bruce Kulick - 3 Oz tours in 3 years!

I was really looking forward to going again too..
It's a good 30% increase over the last tour. :(

I heard that the guy who has been bringing out Bruce is currently trying to get Vinnie out next. I don't like his chances but at least somebody is trying!!

That would be awesome!! And the main difference would be that rather than yelling for the Kiss songs and hoping he plays no solo stuff like Bruce, I'd want less Kiss and more solo stuff from Vinnie! If it was a plain Vinnie tour it would be all Invasion, but if its the Kiss dude who brings him out (not that it will happen anyway though haha) he'd probably have to play a fair share of Kiss. But the versions would sound WAY different, unlike Bruce's tribute band style versions. Vinnie would metal them up heaps, he's been planning to do an album of Kiss songs done his way for a while actually.

The show would be alot more fun than Bruce's I think but in a different way. Less of a Kiss party but more of a 1987 hair metal show!

Oh I also spoke to a dude who knows Bruce's setlist for this tour. He wouldn't tell me, but lets just say it will be GREAT and a bit different than the last 2!

Rather than just songs Kiss don't play anymore, there's gonna be heaps of songs Kiss have NEVER played live... as well as a couple of medlies which will hopefully mean some of the awesome songs like You Love Me To Hate You, I'll Fight Hell To Hold You, King Of The Mountain, Radar For Love, Who Wants To Be Lonely, etc! And I hope he does Heart Of Chrome, Hell Or High Water and Tough Love again (I'm sure he'll do Hell Or High Water and Tough Love coz he wrote them).

I also like the fact that the last 2 tours he has chosen naerly all Paul-sung/written songs. Which is great coz Gene can't write songs to save himself, he sucks as a songwriter. Look at the most classic or best songs he sung - I Love It Loud (written by Paul), God Of Thunder (Paul), Parasite (Ace), Not For The Innocent (well he had a hand in this but was mainly Vinnie), Unholy (Vinnie), War Machine (again he co-wrote it, but with Bryan Adams! haha!)...

Paul Stanley rules :headbang: His songs are ALWAYS the best. Partly coz alot are co-written by the best songwriter ever (Desmond Child) but even the ones that aren't are the best Kiss songs.

Yeah he did write a few good songs here and there (Calling Dr Love anyone? :headbang: ). But he wrote ALOT more crappy filler than he did good songs. The ratio of good and bad songs by Gene does not work in his favour, especially when you consider some of his biggest classics were actually written by Ace before he started singing or by Paul who gave them to Gene or during the Vinnie-era where basically Vinnie wrote 99% of the songs and Gene & Paul finished them off.

Whereas nearly every song Paul sings/writes is awesome. There is hardly any filler by Paul. Look at the non-makeup era, particularly Animalize onwards (coz Gene's songs on Lick It Up were great)... Most of the albums only had about 4 songs written by Gene, where 1 or 2 would be good and the other 2 or 3 would be the crappy filler tracks you skip. Then the rest of the album was written/sung by Paul and at most there would only be 1 filler track among them (ie. Under The Gun on Animalize or I'm Alive on Asylum, nothing on Crazy Nights..).

So Paul = :headbang: and Gene =

:D

Oh also, he should've given some of his songs to Paul to sing because some could've been saved with a better vocalist. While Gene sounds awesome on tracks like Not For The Innocent, Unholy, I Love It Loud and War Machine.... all his songs on albums like Asylum and Crazy Nights are just far too melodic sounding for his voice and he ruins them. During that hair band era, as Kiss have even said before, they needed to have one flamboyant pretty frontman which was obviously Paul who they said was perfect for it and led the band in all the non-makeup clips and sung all their singles up until Revenge. I think from Animalize through to Hot In The Shade, they would have benefitted from having Paul handle 100% of the lead vocals because Gene's voice did not suit the music or the production.

As I said he has a great voice for the thumping dark songs, but he should save it just for them and leave the other stuff to Paul. He's a million times better singer.

Leave the poor guy alone, Troops. He probably has more important problems than writing songs - look at his love life. He obviously has trouble committing to a relationship for one thing, and I think it's better for his emotional well-being if he gets that particular house in order before worrying about some rock songs.

No well he makes up a big part of what Kiss are. He just should write less songs and give some of his songs to Paul to sing coz Paul is a better singer and writer. He also should stop doing things to make people think Kiss are a joke.

Kiss need to write an album of great rock and roll. Get in outside songwriters, whatever it takes, but they need credibility in huge spades at the moment and only great music will give it to them :)

There is only one songwriter who can save them now, and that's the man who wrote most of their best songs. Desmond Child.

Get in Desmond Child, do a really hard rockin' party/sleaze/arena rock album (that isn't a new version of Destroyer like Psycho Circus tried to be, pick up where Revenge left off!) with most of the songs written by Stanley/Child and a few thumping classic Gene tracks that aren't filler (Vinnie brings the best out of Gene's writing..), and they'll win alot more respect and have a killer album in their catalogue.
