Aside from the slightly generic name, this Relapse band is probably the biggest surprise on that label since I first heard Mastodon.

The album is called 'Chronoclast: Selected Essays on Time-Reckoning and Auto-Cannabalism', and you it is worth your time to check them out.

www.buriedinside.com provides basically no information about the band, and the audio samples don't do much for me. I bought this from Willowtip for $10 thinking I could alway resell it if need be.

Man! This is some VERY original extreme music. It is kind of like Converge/Mastodon/Isis (on speed) and so on, but the words "song structure" never occured to these guys. That's a good thing. The music just flows from song to song. The entire CD is like one big song . . . sort of.

Anyway . . . I'll report back more later. I'm just getting a feel for them.

After a few listens this CD has the potential to be an album-of-the-year candidate. It is REALLY starting to kick me in the teeth. The best I can describe them is somewhere between Isis and Converge's 'Jane Doe'. Crushing but subdued in all the right places. They also throw in a generous dose of melodic doom guitars (early Anathema, Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride, etc.), but they don't really sound like a doom band . . . so don't go expecting that.

J. should get this from Willowtip and give it a serious listen. I'd be surprised if this album doesn't do some serious damage to quite a few around here. I just hope enough people give it a chance.

I'm in an Envy period (just bought A dead Sinking Story , had it dled , R00lz btw) , I guess this is the right time to get this.
