Busing SD2 (or other drum VIs) - AUX vs Audio tracks

I've been using a Pro Tools template that I built that has a Supperior Drummer instrument track followed by about a dozen or so AUX tracks. These AUX tracks are fed from the SD2 multi-out so each kit component has its own track. I then have a few other AUX tracks that are drum sub groups, so all snares, kicks, OH and room, etc. and a final AUX track that is a submix for all the drums. Every track outputs to this track which then goes to the master fader.

I have a few favorite FX, etc, on some tracks, I find this a much easier way to deal with mixing from SD2, you can easily grab a fader for a particular track or tweaks its FX etc.

I'm wondering if I should change all of the AUX input tracks to stereo audio tracks with input monitoring enabled. The thinking behind this would be that I can simply record enable the tracks at any time then print the output to the audio track. Currently I'm only printing the drums at the end or if I need to, I create separate audio tracks and send the aux tracks them. Once printed I can make SD2 inactive freeing up resources. If I need to I can easily make it active again, make changes, print, make inactive.

Anyone busing SD2 in either of these ways?

Thoughts on using stereo audio tracks over AUX input tracks?

would you be able to share your template? i've just moved over to pro tools from reaper and am having trouble sorting out the routing, I just need somewhere to start
any help would be appreciated
