I don't mean bass solos.I'd like some band songs where he plays interesting lines under a guitarist.
On a similar note, he is horrible at solos.Obviously his technique is incredible but Goddamn, it's just jumbled noise for 9 minutes.

Damn. Where do I start????
Billy is one of my all-time heroes. I'd say, just about, every band he's
been in has a lot of grounded bass lines.
1. TALAS- s/t
2. TALAS- Sink your teeth into that
3. TALAS- Live Speed On Ice
4. David Lee Roth- Eat 'em and smile
5. David Lee Roth- Skyscraper (Billy's really laid back on this one)
6. MR. BIG- s/t (they have 6 or 7 albums, but if you have the first
one, that's all you really need...great album!)
7.NIACIN- s/t
8.NIACIN- High Bias
9.NIACIN- Deep
10.NIACIN-Time Crunch
11.NIACIN- Blood,Sweat,and Beers...LIVE (DVD)
(SELL YOUR KIDNEYS ON E-BAY, IF YOU HAVE TO...
...YOU "MUST" HAVE THIS DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
12.Billy Sheehan- Compression (KingsX-ish...Awesome)
13.Billy Sheehan/Terry Bozzio- Nine short films (very rhythmic stuff)

Steve Vai has a DVD coming out soon, with Billy on it!!!!!

NP: King Crimson- The Power to Believe

I seem to have the same opinions as Cliff about the esteemed Mr. S as well as his opinions on Metallica. My personal fav is the first Mr. Big (before he went through his "supportive, less is more" phase with Mr. Big)

Besides the solo's (which really aren't bad like you say), his supportive basslines are quite good. Really cool fills and runs. I saw him for that tour, and his perfomance was incredible (they opened for Rush "presto"; dream come true concert)

Get his instructional tapes. I had them for years. Very well made; great closeup filming of his playing. (BTW, I have never found a better tape for teaching fingerstyle with more than 2 fingers than his- he teaches his 3 finger style, but it works just as well for 4 (that's what I did))
