I'm sure this post is old hat but as I'm listening to it now this thought sprung to my head - is Powerslave the best Maiden album? I mean, not your fav songs, but consistantly from the first to the last song is this the strongest album? Tough call as Number of the Beast as this is a stonker of an album, but Powerslave is an overlooked classic.

Bring on all the people who disagree, as I'm sure there are millions of you. Before it all start's - this is only my opinion!

I definitely agree with you...
NotB is the album everyone looks at because it changed history, but Powerslave, at least to me, is THE definitive Maiden album
I was arguing this with two guys at the Maiden show in Irvine... The other guy thought Piece of Mind was the overlooked classic...

yeah, the Powerslave album is deifnitly one of my favorites. It made me rather pissy when I didnt hear it live, wasnt on the Rock in Rio dvd either...and not on VIsions of the Beast...great great album tho...Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner...one of the best maiden songs ever.

Sooo much beautiful music...so difficult to pick a favorite album or song...

i'll always have a soft spot for The Number of the Beast because it was the first time I had ever heard Maiden and I'll never forget it. It's more raw than Piece of Mind or Powerslave but sooooo....yummy!

powerslave is definitely one of my favorites especially cause that was also the first time I ever seen maiden live at that now forever famous 4th night at the long beach arena.
