Can somebody please rank the Doro/Warlock releases??

whats the best,heaviest,ones to avoid.please

Triumph and Agony is the best Warlock album, but there really isn't a bad one. Of the Doro solo stuff, Force Majeure is the best. The rest tend to be very similar, not that that's a bad thing. I seem to recall her trying an industrial sound for one album, but I can't recall the title...something about Black.

yea forgot to mention actually saw Warlock on tour with Megadeth in 1987. so I had Triumph and Agony on cassette. have Force and Warrior soul on cd. really wondering about her solo stuff in the 90's. some of it seems on the light side.

Warlock
Triumph And Agony
Burning The Witches
True As Steel
Hellbound

No Warlock albums should be avoided.

Doro
Doro
True At Heart
Calling The Wild
Force Majeure
Fight
Fear No Evil
Angels Never Die
Warrior Soul
Love Me In Black
Machine II Machine

I'm not saying the last 2 Doro albums are crap, its just a different style for her on them. There are really good songs on there, but I found myself skipping over tracks to get to my favorites which I usually don't do with her material.

As far as heaviest, Fear No Evil, Warrior Soul, Fight and Calling The Wild. My top 2 are real catchy, some heavy, but all around good rock albums.

But, my opinion is all.

Basic Discography (I'm leaving out the EPs and what not):

Warlock:
* Burning the Witches (1984) - an excellent debut; If you like the heavier, thrashier stuff, than I highly recommend this
* Hellbound (1985)
* True As Steel (1986)
* Triumph And Agony (1987) - best of their albums IMO
* Earth Shaker Rock (1998) - Compilation, this includes a few "Doro" songs, but is mostly Warlock material

Of the Warlock stuff, I recommend Triumph and Agony for a first time listener. It's the album that hooked me on Doro from the first three notes. Earthshaker Rock is also a very good "best of" compilation.

Doro:
* Force Majeure (1989) - probably the heaviest of Doro's early solo albums; includes a cool cover of "A Whiter Shade of Pale"
* Doro (1990) - produced by KISS bassist Gene Simmons, a pretty solid album with a fair mixture or hard rock and ballads
* Rare Diamonds (1991) - Compilation, mostly Warlock era with some solo Doro
* True At Heart (1991) - mostly ballads from what I remember, not what I'd consider one of her better albums IMO but I do prefer her heavier stuff
* Angels Never Die (1993) - lots of ballads on this one too, but Bad Blood is an awesome song (cool video too)
* Doro Live (1993) - excellent live album!
* Machine II Machine (1995) - more industrial style metal, heavy crunchy and somewhat electronic sounding, but still a great album
* Love Me In Black (1998) - available only as German import, includes some of my favorite Doro songs (title track, Brutal and Effective, Do You Like It?), also more on the industrial/dance side of things, but still really heavy; includes an awesome cover of Heart's Barracuda
* The Ballads (1998) - all ballads Compilation
* Calling The Wild (2000) - One of my favorite Doro solo album, completely solid album IMO, great cover of White Wedding, guest appearances by Lemmy on two tracks, highly recommended
* Fight (2002) - a dark and heavy album, includes quest appearance Peter Steele on one track
* Classic Diamonds (2004) - a compilation of Warlock and Doro hits rerecorded with a full orchestra, pretty cool stuff, but I don't know if I recommend it as a first listen
* Warrior Soul (2006) - excellent and very solid album, was one of my top albums for that year, highly recommended
* Fear No Evil (2009) - overall not as good as Warrior Soul IMO, but still has a good amount of kick ass tracks

I suggest starting with the ones in bold, but those are just the ones I think are the best.

That was probably more than you needed, but hey ... I could have done all the DVDs and singles too.
Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

I just wanna say that Bobbie is probably the biggest Doro/Warlock fan in the US and I would take her word for it. She even bought that fricking crystall ball thingy for christ sakes.

thanks everyone really enjoyed seeing and meeting Doro over last couple of years at Jaxx. Bobbie have you heard anything about her touring US in 2009 yet?

They have a UK/Ireland tour supporting Saxon coming up in April and May. Then they are doing their own mini-Eruo tour in May and June (got this info from her bass player Nick' Douglas' page). Then, my guess is, that they (Doro) will hit the summer Euro festival circuit although I haven't seen them make announcements yet for any festivals they might be on, but there's a ton of them over there so they'll probably be on at least a few of them.

Nick's usually right. If they are going to tour the US it will most likely be later this year, probably in the fall, or possibly even next spring. It would be nice if they brought Saxon along with them too IMO. Hopefully she'll stop at Jaxx again, and if so, we'll see you there!

Oddly enough, I purchased a couple fo Doro discs last weekend. I bought both Force Mejure and Doro.

Her self titled disc is OK at best imo. Force Mejure is a solid offering though. It also doesn't hurt to have Bobby Rondinelli on drums either.

I have both Warlock's Triumph and Agony and True as Steel. You can't go wrong with either of those.

Hey, I saw that tour as well, Kalamazoo, MI with the mighty Sanctuary in tow! Most of her solo stuff is pretty light, Burning the Witches and Triumph & Agony are the key Warlock albums to have.

Awww! Thank Biffle! I like the majority of her material, but hopefully I did an OK job of distinguishing the different styles on the albums and which ones are worth checking out for different types of listeners and those with different tastes.

Haha! Yeah, and the new box set, which includes a 3D golden cast of Doro's hand. It's kinda dorky, but I don't care.

We saw her in Nashville 4-18-08 along with Fatal Smile, Noisecult & Piranah. The whole night was a great night of metal. I'm hoping for another U.S. tour as well. Some of my suggestions:

Warlock-Triumph And Agony, True As Steel

Doro-Warrior Soul, Calling The Wild, Fight, Force Majeure, Doro

She also has a very cool dvd 25 Years A Warrior Soul worth checking out.

I would love to see her play ProgPower USA.
