Can we move it back to November?

I'd like to see the festival remain in September. There was nothing worse than that year in November when it rained and was overcast and crappy. I like being able to count on the weather and shuttle back and forth to the hotel to drop off my cd hauls and not have to worry about finding a jacket.

I mean hell, doesn't anyone remember all the damn leather jackets in November? All over the place and one more thing for people to have to keep an eye on or worse yet, get stuck having to check it at the door.

"If you doubt whether or not this is true, ask all the Scandanavian bands."

HAAAAAA!!! Awesome!

I know it was pretty hot, but damnit, I need to sweat some, just to fool myself into thinking that I'm working off this beer belly by climbing all these damn hills! Besides... gimme hot over cold any day. I fuckin hate winter. I love my sweaty balls being their sweatiest in the summer. ;)

Pretty funny dude.... love the smart ass humor... :tickled:

Try using Secret. It's strong enough for a man, but made for a woman who bitches about getting sweaty at a heavy fucking metal concert.

Keep the fest in September... but find some sort of a happy medium on the venue temperature.

Concur!

The problem with ELL is that it's probably an all-or-nothing thing on the A/C, since it has really good A/C when it is invoked. Some performers prefer a more humid singing environment since it's easier on their throats. If you were at the pre-party, Dreamscape mentioned this, comparing the pre-party favorably with last year onstage in Earthlink Live itself.

It's a pity we can't have cool, yet clammy air in the venue, but then we would alll go home sick. :)

The a/c has to be invoked? Does that include black robes, candles and a virgin(provided one could be found)?

It's a small space with a bunch of people who are expending energy fro hours on end, it's gonna get hot & funky in there. Once you walk out of the tunnel into the lobby it was fine. That the price you pay...hmm, that'd make a good song title.

Orginally I am from wisconsin, so I love the cold. I hate these hot Kansas days. I dont like the temperature to be above 70. My room is about 65 all year round.

I think that in recent years, September is a bit risky. I don't know if the festival could surivive a cancellation due to hurricane. I realize Atlanta is inland, but there were power outages during Ivan and that's all it takes.

Perhaps April? No hurricanes, not too hot or too cold, and not during the holiday season.

The hurricanes aren't that bad, this year. April down here sucks, and between then and Sept it's nothing but rain - so if you thought it was hot and humid this past weekend, imagine it with summer in full force. We actually missed the hurricanes this year, and didn't get hit by much. Previous to Ivan we didn't have a problem either, so I really don't see the need to even consider one year as a reason to move to a different date.

LOL... for a second, I thought you were suggesting that Glenn should turn down the weather.

And?

Anyone who can arrange a Conception reunion show, who can book Blind Guardian for their first US show ever, and trigger Therion's first US tour ever should easily be capable of mere weather control. :tickled:  :worship:

Therion will have to play again, to play "Invocation of Air Conditioning"! After all, only they have got that evil summoning stuff down, of all the bands that have played PPUSA :P.

Yep, such heat is inevitable. I think a reason I heard from Glenn about the September time period choice was that flights are cheaper. The closer you get to the holiday season, the more expensive they get, and when you have 4-5 band members and their stuff flying from Europe, South America, or even Asia, that's some huge differences in price between Nov and Sep, I bet.

That the price you pay...hmm, that'd make a good song title.

Already is one. Savatage, "The Price You Pay," HotMK. Great tune too!

The air conditioning is a can't win situation. I had many people bitch about it being too cold last year. With as many folks going in/out, it's almost impossible to keep it a perfect 72 degrees F room temperature.

Plus, some vocalists cannot perform in the cold. Khan is one of them. So I would rather hear you folks bitch about the temperature than have a crappy Conception gig.

There is a method to all of my madness. I just don't share it all the time.
