Canadian Dollar Passes US Dollar

There should be a road tax in the US just like there is here, where once a year you have to pay a sum of money based on the fuel efficiency and emission rating of your car. I think I pay like 160 euros per year or something for my car. People who own corvettes here have to pay probably around 1000 or so. Also, insurance goes up as well based on the size of the engine, which it does also in the US, but not nearly as much.

The notion here is, "If you want a monster vehicle, that's fine. You're gonna have to pay for it."

As an American, born and raised, I must say.... HELL YES! I fully agree! I own a Ford Mustang, Ford Ranger, and Ford Escort (notice a pattern?)... and I'd gladly pay more for the Mustang if it meant the richer idiots with only sports cars had to suffer!

There was actually a giant tax break back in the late 90's in the US for bought one of the new Hummers. They got a HUGE tax break, but the people who bought the electric car that was in production back then (EV-1) got a very very small tax break.

without reading all the posts (cause there's a lot!)... here are a few of my thoughts as if anyone gives a shit:

the Canadian dollar is worth more because they have a stable economy, unlike the USA who is always fucking with things that aren't broken. The person in the White House makes no difference as he/she/it will always change things for better or worse... it's almost a luck of the draw.

And gas prices don't mean shit. Europe has huge prices compared to people in the midwest USA, but those in the USA are complaining endlessly. Stop your bitching! I'm hurting from the major increase too, but I've adapted - take carpools, busses, mass transit, and don't travel unless you need to (concerts are a must).

Now back to my Vodka...

That's exactly right. My car has a diesel engine in it and diesel is about 1.10 per LITER, versus the $3.00 per GALLON in the US. Do the math:

4.2 liters in a gallon, right?

1.10 x 4.2 = 4.62 EUROS per gallon of fuel, more or less.

Calculate 4.62 euros x exchange rate of .75 and you come out to about $5.75 per gallon of gasoline.

I spent $88 the other day to fill up my car with diesel because gasoline is more expensive, so both our cars have diesel engines.

I remember growing up in the states when $1.75 per gallon of gasoline was quite expensive, and I'm paying $5.75 per gallon now. And all I hear from my family and other people is bitch bitch bitch about high gas prices because they're (GASP!) three fucking dollars per gallon. Fuck off.

I will, however, concede that public transportation is better in Europe than in the states, at least in most cities. Of course if you live in NYC, you probably have great public transportation. Italy is probably one of the worst in Europe for public transport and is still head and shoulders above the US. That's the only good thing about this situation: there's a choice, whereas in the US there isn't usually.

If we had public transit worth a damn in this area i'd probably take it. But where I live we get one single bus that runs out here 2 times per day. That's it. Once at 5am and once at 8pm. It's only fucking 15 minutes out of downtown!!!! So much for "County" transit...
not in king county, imho, we have great public transportation. But that is because seattle is the best city in the US

King County has decent transportation. So does Snohomish. But Skagit, Whatcom, Island (duh), and all the rest around here are horrendous.
Well, vote for the transportation initiative then!
btw, people in places with shit public transportation should start initiatives for public trasnportation and pass them over your local city council and conservative faggots
