Saw this on another forum and thought it was a pretty interesting read. Couldn't help but think of this forum as I was reading thinking of what alot of you guys have probably done in the past.
I'd love to hear what alot of you guys career highlights have been.

I've not been in the game long enough so for me it's probably just been the first time I actually comitted to recording a band that wasn't my own and actually delivering a decent recording that everyone involved with was proud of.
I put on a small music festival with 2 mates of mine that went well too- I ended up playing with 1 band, doing live sound for 12 more and even managed to multitrack record a few of the sets as I went! Long day!

Whats yours? Feel free to name drop too:rock: Thats what this kind of thing is all about!

- Mixing over 1000 gigs, ~600 FOH and 400 monitors
- Mixing at the main stage of Finnish Metal Expo
- Inhouse Engineer job in 5 different venues
- Recording vocals at Finnvox for Major Label
- Four tours in Finland with six different bands
- Oncoming European tour with Ancara
- Getting inside university to study music production and marketing without longterm musicianship background (theres only two of us in the class) with fourth best score in our group after failing miserably three times to get in

I think thats about it

Singing a chorus to "Cold" with At the Gates when they came to South Florida in their first US tour after Slaughter of the Soul was released and getting the thumbs up from Tompa after doing so

Jamming with Sean Reinert and playing on an album with him.

Getting a Master's degree.

Meeting Dan Swanö and getting a little tour of Örebro and showing me where Unisound was.

Playing in front of a thousand people at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando during the Taste of Chaos '09 tour.

-Guitar Tutor.
-Guitarist of the Heavy Metal band 'Forged In Fire'.
-Mixing for local bands every now and then, mostly demos and EPs. I usually work with metal bands of the old-school category. However, I mix some modern rock and pop as well!
-Plan to dual-major in Psychology and Audio Production soon.

here's mine.

-Moving from a small town in Canada to Los Angeles and actually getting to touch an SSL.

-Running at a studio where in a month I met more people I respected and loved then most people will ever meet in a lifetime.

-Getting the call that I was now working for a production team. And not realizing just how much that would change my life.

-Having a digidesign rep say "holy hell you're fast on PT".

-Having the same digi rep say "can you beta test for us", and followed by "want free software?!?".

-Seeing my name in print on a major label cd.

-Seeing my name on a platinum album plaque.

-Realizing that I've spent my entire adult life doing this "job" and still can't believe I'm getting paid to do it.

Talking metal and growling with Corpsegrinder, aswell as talking favorite Cannibal riffs with Paul Mazurkiewicz (both at the same event)

Doing a mock interview, that turned into just talking shit, with Mikael Stanne from DT. Meeting some of my heroes, and just talking shit is stuff I still get all excited about.

Did some decent gigs with my old band which I was really happy with at the time, but seem kinda lame in retrospect. As for my AE stuff, I'm producing the next (and last) album for the afore mentioned band and it is turning out great. It will be my first "real" album, and hopefully the start of a brutal career!

My career highlight thus far has been jamming with Joey (Life of Agony) and Dan (Anthrax) and playing both LOA and Anthrax songs with them!

My upcoming highlight will be performing with my band The Judas Syndrome at Blender Theater (NYC) on 6/23/09 and opening for Sworn Enemy and Pro-Pain!

More to come!!!!!!!!

-Being in a band and being the guy who gets to record/mix/master our stuff and have complements made towards your work by both press and fans alike.

-being in a no name band from a no name town in the middle of no name Indiana and being able to share the stage and meet bands I dig and look up to in terms of success/accomplishments, and my band maintaining relationships with some of the dudes in said bands.

Arch Enemy
Chimaira
DevilDriver
Hate Eternal
God Forbid
Unearth
All that Remains
Lamb of God
Hatebreed
Anthrax

I know I'll never be able to do what they do, or at that level, but it's been cool to experience a tiny tiny bit of what they go through (big, appreciative crowds, etc.) as well as meet some really, really down to earth dudes.

Not a career highlight, but sitting down and talking with Dimebag when I was a teenager.

To me that was like a Christian sitting down with Christ himself. What a day. :kickass:

I think it changes every day.

One may be talking and sharing tecnical stuff backstage with the guy from Cannibal Corpse, the other day with Deicide. Just this past sunday (may 31) I got to do that with brazilian band Ratos De Porao.

Actually doing that might be pretty much the same we do here (at the forum) every time.

Also, every time I finish mixing a whole album, and actually liking the result, I feel highligthed. Wish that happend all the time.

I am still waiting on that "goal" ya know? But so far the highlight has probably been having the opportunity to tour with Hatebreed, God Forbid, and Agnostic Front. Just always looking for that next opportunity I guess. I have been lucky enough to meet a lot of guys I look up to like Alex Skolnick and just really big influences like that. Hoping to one day get to hang with Mr. Murphy haha.

How I envy you.

Never got to "see" Pantera, let alone speak with the man himself.

Yeah. I was 14 years old, and Pantera was the only band on the planet that mattered to me. Very fond memories of that day. He was such a nice guy! He was promoting his Washburn guitars and started giving people his personal belongings because he ran out of promo swag. He was even giving money out of his wallet.
