Hey yall, were back from danmark! We spent over two weeks up there in Tues Antfarm Studio, recording the follow up to With Triumph Comes Loss. So, this newsletter is mainly going to be about what we did. Well also collect all the pics weve made during our stay and put them in a gallery so you can look at us working
or not. Most of them are pure nonsense actually. Ok lets go then:
We traveled up through Friday and Saturday, taking a nap in Kassel, which is half way up. After we arrived in the early afternoon and moving in our little home for the next weeks, we set up the drumkit and the guitar amps, so we could rehearse on Sunday (which is Tues day off).
Monday morning had us checking the drums, setting up the microphones and tuning a bit here and there. And after lunchtime we started recording the first songs. Its pretty rough because once youve agreed on a good version, this will be it, theres not much you can change later on. The final hits were done on Thursday morning, and Ricky was done working the basis for eleven tracks was done.
The rest of the day was used to check guitar sounds, recording a first track and doing a rough mix to hear how it would sound. The actual recordings then started on Friday, and proceeded pretty fast Greg and Simon were done by Tuesday, one day before wed pick up Fedi from Aarhus Airport, so that left us enough time to record the bass guitar on Wednesday.
We picked up Fedi from the airport (can you believe that both EasyJet to London and Ryanair to Aarhus were actually on time?!!) on Wednesday evening, and after the bass was finished on Thursday morning he had to start work too, while the rest of us could kick back. Well actually no, Greg and Simon were still doing overdubs and checked out some additional guitar stuff to the songs.
Saturday was the final day for all of us except Fedi who kept doing 2 3 songs every day until Wednesday. We listened to all the tracks again, did some intros and checked for mistakes or bad sounds which is a pretty hard job when youve been listening to the same tracks again and again for two weeks. And now were waiting for the first mix by Mr Antfarm
Some other stuff
The Blowout Sale is still going on. If youre a small girl or a big guy you definitely need to check it as the stocks are running out. Go to www.cataract.cc/shop.html and choose the blowout sale in the menu to see whats still left. The prices were lowered and were giving away free shirts with every order over 30Euros or even more if you order more than 60 Euros.
Weve confirmed s-h-i-t-l-o-a-d-s of shows, and theres a ton more coming up, as were waiting for the confirmation of two tours. Rumors are wandering around but as long as things are not confirmed I dont want to be the one being the leak. However, we will keep you posted on the webpage!
Among those shows is by the way the record release show on Wednesday, the 24th of may which is the day before ascension. Its going to take place at Abart in Zurich and well tell you more about it in the next newsletter.
Alright, thats it for this month
