Absolutely. Cats murder over 2 billion birds worldwide each year, and on average torture them for 20 minutes before finally finishing them off.

According to this article in Audobon magazine, windows rival cats for bird kills per year. That's not including the many other ways humans kill birds, such as habitat destruction. In some way it seems more cruel that we kill without malice, casually and callously. The lives of small, wild birds are simply meaningless to humans as a species.

My cat recently brought me a still living bird with it's wings and feet eaten. I killed the thing quickly by thoracic compression.

dammit I almost posted that earlier but I wasn't sure if I found it on this board originally so I hadn't gotten around to it yet.

anyway, funny stuff.

Yeah, well.... I don't really care much for humans, either.

How much money you got?

That's the point. Domesticated cats aren't starving, but they sure make it a point to kill whatever they can, whenever they can. Instincts my ass. Having the dubious distinction of being the most murderous animal known to man makes them just plain evil.

I spend a lot of time in the woods/mountains (especially during hunting season), and I've always wanted to stumble across a mountain lion. Their hides make awesome looking rugs. I'd probably eat him too....just so I can crap him out (like he'd do to me).
do you see any conflict in your condemnation of cats and your own hunting behavior? Apparently the only reason you aren't shooting up the wilderness all year long is hunting season regulations (and I have no idea whether you pay attention to that, lots of people don't)

I'm well aware that well fed cats hunt better than cats who don't get fed. Cats hunt. It's their nature. There's alot about "pure nature" that is cruel and such. Such as windows. Bad windows, bad! Perhaps we should criticize birds for being so stupid they can dart about tree limbs and such but can't avoid windows. IT'S NATURE.

I happen to be a big fan of birds, as much as I can be in an urban environment. I try to keep my birdfeeder full cause I enjoy watching them. and my cats are indoor cats, and have never touched a bird.
