'Twas a good week!

Deep Purple - Burn (30th Anniversary remaster w/remixes!!)
Saxon - Unleash the Beast (yet another great post '95 record from this band!)
Candlemass - Epicus Doomicus Metallicus (the birth of doom!)
Sabbath - Paranoid (1996 import version)
Sabbath - Master of Reality (1996 import version)
Sabbath - Debut (96 import)

Unholy coffee! That's what I called a honest-to-God, tr00 kult UMOS haul :worship:

This has to go for commendation of metalness beyond the call of duty. And that Saxon album unzips the beast  Excellent haul, I hope you enjoyed it a lot.

BTW, what have the 96 imports in special?

How's the Deep Purple-Burn reissue?!
I have the Fireball & Machine Head sets, they kicks ass....
The sound is UNREAL! It's as if the record has been given new life!

Also, there are remixes of 4 of the tunes, and they sound ever better! The booklet is about 30 pages long & is crammed with great tons of interesting facts concerning the Mark III lineup.

Also included is a rare B-Side.....a great, jazzy/bluesy instrumental!

SAXON - I have heard many say they rule and some say they suck...I have never heard 'em. But if you guys like 'em they must be good. I may look for some Saxon next time around....
Old Saxon is a combo of Priest and AC/DC, IMO (but much better than AC/DC).
The record 'Strong Arm of the Law" is an absolute classic, followed by "Wheens of Steele" and "Denim and Leather".

In the mid 90s, they became a much heavier band (in the mid-late 80s, they took a stab at commercial success and morphed into a Def Lep clone). Their last 4 albums are pure British Metal.

Ted, like SoundMaster said, these 3 Saxon albums are very much worth checking out! Denim And Leather is my favorite.

Teddy you MUST get Saxon. To me they are the heart and soul of NWOBHM, after 25 years they are so true to the spirit it makes me shiver.

And if is true they got a bit more "poppier" towards 1986-1989 I wouldn't call them any close to Def Leppard in their heavier times. I'll recommend to get at least for starters:

"Power & The Glory"
"Wheels Of Steel"
"Strong Arm Of The Law"
"Crusader"

if you dig them then go for the rest, you can leave for a completism thingie in the end (and if you want):

"Destiny"
"Rock The Nations"
"Saxon" (debut)
and maybe "Metalhead" (which dissapointed me a bit).

Their last two ("Killing Ground" and "Lionheart") are among the finest metal albums in years from any band

Wyvern, I see you like Paradise Lost!!

GREAT BAND (at least their mid90s stuff was).
ICON & Draconian Times kick ass!
Actually I have only "Draconian Times" , I found it used in a store and had the only song I knew from them at the time 'Once Solemn'. Now I like also 'Fear' a lot, but the rest are like songs to pass by mainly.

I just did a small haul as well. I was listening to some Deep Purple mp3's I had and, as I had never bought any of their stuff on CD, decided to fix that. I bought:

House Of Blue Light
Machine Head
Burn
Slaves And Masters
Perfect Strangers

About damn time, I say!

The track "Perfect Strangers" is godly.....has a very eerie vibe, IMO.

Deep Purple is one of my fav bands. You MUST check out "In Rock" (it's right up there with the debuts by Zep & Sabbath as being total kick-ass blues-metal must haves!! The birth of metal, IMO).

Also be sure to check out "Fireball".

Hey Psycho that combines haul smokes! Way to go man ;)

And just wait for the CD of "House Of Blue Light" the versions are extended related to those on the vinyl, was the surprise of my life when I got it years ago, because I wnet to re-recorded and didn't fit it in the tape
