WARCHITECT release their sophomore album "A Sea of Red"

"A Sea of Red", the second studio album by Dutch progressive metallers WARCHITECT, is officially released. The band deserves a lot of credits with their second studio album. It is a great piece of art and in no way inferior to a release supported by a record label," according to a first review published on Drummerszone.com. The album can be ordered at this location: http://www.slagwerkwereld.com/shop/index3.php, where free excerpts of all tracks are available as well.

In 2002 Warchitect released its debut album "Mind", which was highly acclaimed by press and public. The Dutch leading metal magazine Aardschok compared the band’s musicianship to Watchtower, (later) Death and Spiral Architect. MTV Europe used parts of their songs for a MTV Rock Weekend promo in 2003.

Several line-up changes followed, leading to a stable formation with the addition of new vocalist Frankie Ruisch whose voice reminds of modern Scandinavian thrash and sometimes even of the all-mighty Chuck Schuldiner (rip). The clean backing vocals by guitarist Michael Schoemaker deliver more diversity to the songs.

Recorded at the HelterBelter Studios in their hometown Wageningen in May 2004, WARCHITECT used a more direct approach on their sophomore album, which resulted in more dynamic and aggressive songs.

All tracks are still very guitar orientated, with beautiful melodies and riffs of timeless quality. Even with the solos, a weak point for many bands, Warchitect knows what to do and they do it right. Guitarist Ingmar Otter plays with a remarkable pure and warm sound. With his fretless bass guitar Arjen de Boer underlines the musicality of the band.

Drummer Nolo Honkoop puts a personal stamp upon the music by adding a certain swing to every song. He plays in support of the compositions and emphasizes it where possible. His unorthodox metal drumming sounds deceivably simple sometimes, but that rather makes it high class.

Honkoop had previously played in the death metal band JUDGEMENT DAY and funk act D'UPYOGHURTED, with whom he reached the finals of the "Grote Prijs van Nederland" (Holland's biggest band competition) in 1998. He was also honored with the "Best Drummer" award during that competition.
