Has anyone else looked into Gerald Celente's trend predictions for the next four years?
Definitely discussion fodder.

Edit: Link

Edit#2 : Ignore the dumb FOX ditz interview.

There's probably more concise sites but this was what popped up.

Food riots will definitely happen in the future, but I don't know if it would in the next 4 years. I would be more inclined to agree with 8 or 10 years

I don't expect the fuel drop to translate into a drop in prices that were increased for fuel related reasons anytime soon. With the economic downturn most companies are going to be slow to give any ground on prices.

Depends on how desperate the business is. Rudimentary laws of supply and demand apply here

This drop is only temporary though

Everything is temporary. Temporary for how long. They are expecting them to drop well into 2009.

I can agree with you on this. But on the other hand the fuel drop will ease the pressure somewhat.

Gas prices increased so fast that it put a lot of companies in the hole, and this drop is allowing them to get back some of the lost ground.
Edit: Prices on fuel finding a resting point is hard to pin, because hyper-inflation fucks up everything. It might be trading elsewhere at one price but coming into the US can go sky-high.

Seeing as how the guy didn't even come close to a thoughtful analysis of the recession, and mainly presented his case in terms of empty soundbites, I see little reason to take him seriously. It's one thing to have predicted something, and it's another to actually have some solid reasoning behind your prediction.

Although I'm only evaluating this guy from a 3-minute video clip, he sounds like the kind of generic, intellectually irresponsible pundit that Fox loves to interview on their shows because he can effectively spread fear and misinformation. I especially love how the anchor chick insists that "this guy's been right many, many times before, so you can't just take this with a grain of salt". Congratulations, Fox. You continue to live up to your reputation of providing biased, sensationalistic bullshit for idiots to lap up.

Where's this guy's reasoning? And how do we know he hasn't made at least as many inaccurate predictions in the past? He really sounds like he's just out there to made grandiose claims and stir people up.

If you would read the article and the links off the article you would gain a much better insight as opposed to watching FOX's pathetic attempt at news coverage.
