Check out our song with Harry

Check out a short sample of the song The Battle Cry of Freedom, a very cool Civil War song that we "Metal-ized" with Harry Conklin from Jag Panzer as guest Vocalist here (Dial-up users, be patient… The song will play from the page). :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Harry is so metal

Always nice to hear to new "material" with Harry on vocals, however that song was beyond awful, unless the song was meant as a parody, and I certainly don't think thats the case. What's with the lyrics? Do you guys actually get together, have "brainstorming" session, with this being the end result?

"Metal Forever! Down with the posers, and up with the steel!"

If you're going to take Civil War melodies, and create a "tribute" at least do it with some class. I'm sure there are thousands of Union soldiers rolling in their graves right now, over how ridiculously horrible this song is.

And wheres the creativity?
OK. You "metalized" it. Which apparently is the act of taking a historical war song, and turning into a steaming pile of auditory crap. Lovely job gentlemen.

Yes, I said some asshole things here, but at least I'm honest. In fact, I've done you a favor! Anyone who comes up to you and says this is "good" you'll immediately know they're lying. It'll be a great social experiment to help you weed out the lying, ass kissing morons, from the honest people. It'll be wonderful.

In closing, I have two statements...

If this was a joke/parody/satire - Disregard the above statements, and keep the musical comedy coming! Metal is filled with so much unintentional humor, and it's nice to know that a true metal band realizes this.

If this was an actual honest effort from you guys -
Good luck with your music career. You're certainly going to need it.
Oh, and if you need any gigs, my nephew is turning 10 in a few months. It's a Wizard Of Theme party. Maybe you guys could "metalize" "Follow The Yellow Brick Road"

I think my vagina is bleeding from the pain it went through as that song made it's non-consensual entry and hurt my feelings. Does Harry just have a lot of extra time? He must like you guys as people a lot, otherwise he just laid down his awesome vocals for a bunch of "metalized" noise.

My anus vomits with rage. I cannot believe this. The new release by Too $hort, "The Mack Of The Century," sounds like the amalgamation of all the good in the world combined with the glory of glory hole pornography and the integrity of Kurt Angle in comparison to this goblet full of Japanese business men's essence.

Good night.

edit:

I was trying to figure out why the band name sounded so familiar, and it's because there's a white pride powerhouse of heavy metal by the same name!

Have a civil rights diss track or something. Make your music interesting because you're losing to the Aryan mullet parade as of right now.

Wow... You're a dick!!!
A few points for you:
This was intended to be somewhat parodical... in the veign of Manowar. I think that's pretty obvious. In fact, when Harry asked if he should harmonize the choruses or "was that too cheesey?" Our response was, "this is supposed to be cheesey."
We did not really change it musically, because it's a good song.

And, finally... One cannot take oneself too seriously, especially in Rock n' Roll.

Paradoxical is the word you seek, and I gotta say... I'm not buying that. It isn't obvious. I've visited your website, seen your posts, your requests for musicians, and you guys promote yourself as a very real, and very apparent heavy metal band.

Manowar, cheese or not, have written some great music, so I wouldn't go about comparing this song to Manowar. In fact, I'm willing to bet a person who hates Manowar with a passion, would rather listen to "All Men Play On 10" for an entire 24 hour period, then hear 30 seconds of "The Battle Cry Of Freedom"

In fact, when Harry asked if he should harmonize the choruses or "was that too cheesey?" Our response was, "this is supposed to be cheesey."

From your website:
"We have finished The Battle Cry of Freedom, which is a very cool Civil War song that we "Metal-ized" with Harry Conklin as guest Vocalist. Working with Harry was an awesome experience, and we're very proud of the outcome."

Speaking as a person who writes comedy, has a incredibly healthy sense of humor, and loves to laugh, I don't see one line in your news update that alludes to the song being deliberately cheesy. There is a method to writing comedy, and I'd be more than happy to help, if you want to get the "deliberate cheesiness" across in your website updates.

We did not really change it musically, because it's a good song.

So using your logic, the lyrics of the original song weren't good, and needed to be "metalized" for an improvement?

And, finally... One cannot take oneself too seriously, especially in Rock n' Roll.

You shouldn't use this line. It's synonymous with musicians who can't take criticism. I take writing, playing, and recording music quite seriously, and I'm pretty sure if people praised your song, you'd be taking a completely different approach in your posts.

Actually I'm pretty sure he was going for exactly what he typed, seeing as he is describing the parodical intent behind the song.

Welcome to the internet.

I think this picture pretty much sums up the responses in this thread;

Look Zac,
The negative response to this has been outweighed by the positive. So, I respect your opinion and your right to express it. But, the people that are praising us are much bigger people in the music industry (Harry, Richie from ShadowKeep), greater in number, and they have no reason to blow smoke up our asses. Like I said, the parody is obvious and I did not see a need to point it out in my postings, because it speaks for itself.

You don't like what we're doing, fine. When we post other samples, don't listen to them. When we finish the rest of the CD and release it for sale, don't buy it.

In the mean time, why don't you put your efforts into something constructive... like fixing the Colorado Scene links page on jagpanzer.com. ;)

Ah name dropping. Lovely. No offense, but I don't think Harry and and the ex-vocalist from Angelwitch/Tygers Of Pan Tang are "big" in the music industry. Both awesome singers in wonderful bands, but big? Nah. And this is irrelevant anyway. Even if they were "big" in the music industry, who gives a fuck. They could praise you till they were blue in the face, and that still wouldn't change the fact that the song blows.

Hey, I buy it. No need to drag this out anymore, but for a "parody" you certainly do a lot of promotion.
And shouldn't you let people know it's a parody in your posts? You'd get a lot more responses if people knew the band was a flat out joke, instead of something serious.

Here's nice list of threads promoting the parody "Battle Cry" Anyone else see the deliberate humor?

You guys aren't "doing" anything. I'll tell you what though, I will listen to samples, and I'm definitely going to buy the cd. Probably several copies. Me buying the album, is the equivalent of giving a homeless person a few bucks. I have a soft spot for the unfortunate.

In the mean time, why don't you put your efforts into something constructive... like fixing the Colorado Scene links page on jagpanzer.com.

You know, it's been about 2 years since I've talked to anyone in Jag Panzer, with the exception of one member, and as far as I'm concerned, I've got nothing to do with the website anymore. Maybe you can take over, and that'll give you some real street credit!

This will be last post dealing with this crap, and if people are curious as to why I had a few lengthy posts, it's because I absolutely hate musicians who do stuff like this. You post all these threads promoting the band, the website, Harry is making an appearance!, and then a song is released, people think it blows, and all of a sudden the months of promoting, spamming, and work become a parody?

I never said the band was a parody. I said the song had parodical elements (that is the word I want, as this is not a paradox - ie "up with the steel," etc...). Also, I didn't say Harry and Richie were "big." I said bigger, as in bigger than you. As for your charitable contribution by buying several copies of our CD, thanks for the support. See ya.
