Among the Horrors
God I love a good pun. Anyway, I really don't like Christmas, but it's pretty hard to avoid the damn holiday and have kids without feeling like a monstrous ass. Anywho, the kids got a bunch of toys, too many of which need batteries and make noise, but at least there were plenty of Duplos in the mix. I got some money from a few relatives, which I used to buy some music, books, and games:

Foucault - Madness and Civilization
Kahneman - Thinking, Fast and Slow
5 CDs including Leprosy and (Ob)servant
CoD Advanced Warfare
Steam Railroad Bundle
Some board gaming bits

From the girlfriend

Book: Collection of Sands by Italo Calvino
4 shirts
2 pairs of jeans
1 pair of shoes
Settlers of Catan 5-6 player expansion

The clothes and shoes were very necessary. Going to my mom's on Saturday

Huh. Like a great lakes Fred Meyers.

Its a superstore similar to it from what I can gather, but they're different companies altogether - interestingly enough the chairman of the company for quite some time was a guy named Fred Meijer.

New jeans and slacks, which is great because I'm a lazy slob when it comes to laundry. Also got a new dress shirt and some really nice new shoes - classy but also casual. And a new raincoat.

The usual haul of new books, which I'll list in the reading thread.

Some nice stuff for my study: a paperweight w/ pen holder, made of petrified wood. Decorative stamp for sealing envelopes; you know, stuff we'll never use but that is still nice.

Finally, a copy of Floyd's new one, The Endless River.
