Chinese Democracy

Haha thats awesome. Still not convinced that the record will actually come out on the 23rd however.

This might just be worse than St. Anger. I'm predicting that this will go down as one of the most retarded albums in history.

Heard a track the other day... Kind of liked it... Sounds a bit dated... Better than expected...
I was a big GNR fan back in the day. I read a good article about how they got started as a band in Playboy a couple months back.
Can't possibly be more disappointing than St Anger ???

The only way it can be less disappointing than St. Anger is that I never liked GNR with the same sort of unabashed fanboyism that I did Metallica at a point in my life. But, seriously, as I've said before, there's almost nothing that can make a wait this long worth it. Like I'll listen to music created by Axl Rose and think, "Oh! I see why he took so long! This is a masterpiece! Thank god he's such a fucking perfectionist." I'm pretty sure the opposite is true. Rock music shouldn't take this long to create. That it has taken this long means something is VERY wrong, which we, of course, know is true.

Wasn't Izzy the main songwriter for GnR back in the day? I was never a big fan of the band, but I seem to remember an article appearing about a decade ago which said that Izzy was responsible for penning all of the hit songs from Appetite for Destruction. Then, after he left, they couldn't repeat that kind of songwriting with Use Your Illusion (Although I remember some really good songs off of those albums) and that's when everybody started to leave and everything started to unravel.

I have no idea if that's true or not, but it could explain why Axle has been hiding out for the last two decades, desperately trying to pen another Mr. Brownstone or Paradise City.

It will be interesting to see people's reaction to this album once it finally comes out. I'm sure there will be the diehard fans who will buy it no matter what (although I have to wonder if they even exist anymore). And there will be the people buying it out of pure curiosity...morbid or otherwise.

But what Soundave said earlier really hit the nail on the head. There is NOTHING worth this kind of wait for an album. I mean, the only way it would be justifiable on Axle's part is if he were to have recorded this generations version of Sgt. Pepper or Dark Side of the Moon. And call me pessimistic....but I highly doubt that.

This album is worthy of Spinal Tap. It's very title (Chinese Democracy) has become an industry joke for a project that should have been pulled a looooong time ago. This just has the smell of the "$1.99 cutout bin at K Mart" all over it (If they even have those around anymore).

Then again, when the first single is released and it becomes more important then John Lennon's "Imagine," you can all come back and remind me how wrong I was. :)

I'm buying it just to hear bucketheads work on it (yes hes on it). I used to be a big GNR fan in the early 90's not any more though.
