Some of you might have done this little test before - just a wee bit of fun really. I'm totally in a state of shock though, I thought it was really easy, only about 4 questions I wasn't sure about - but I only scored 84%. Bloody hell how shocking is that from someone who thought she was the Princess of classic rock & nwobhm!!!!!!. I was expecting to get into the high 90s!!!!!! I guess that proves I don't know everything about classic rock - I'm gutted now. Very upset indeed.

I only got like 66% which is ok, i understand they didnt have another 6 to put on the end of it:grin:

Im not really a fan of classic rock, bit of stones, hendrix and bowie thats about it really the rest kinda bores the shit out of me...Im a Metalhead not some old man!!!

You should hang your head in shame young Valanx, that is an appalling score. I did the test again and I got 89% this time, so I don't know which ones I'm getting wrong. I think I fell down at the Travelling Wilburys and Credence Clear Water questions, not too sure about them.

You dont have to be an old man to appreciate the fine qualities of classic rock, I mean just look at how young I am!!!!!. Did I ever tell you about the best compliment I ever got. I was in the Solid Rock a wee while ago and one night they played 5 songs in a row by bands I'd seen - like UFO, Krokus, Rush, Samson & Hawkwind. I just happend to say to guy next to me that I'd seen all those bands. Next up they played Floyd's Money - he turns round and says to me "Well that's one band you've definitely not seen". And I was like "well sorry to disappoint you but I saw Floyd in 1980 at Earls Court doing The Wall. To which he replied "What when you were 5 you mean???. And me being ultra thick didn't have a clue what he was talking about, so said, 'nope I think I was a wee bit older than 5 when I saw Pink Floyd' - and he said he only thought I was about 29!!!!!!!!!!! I felt like planting a big smackeroo on his lips I'll tell ya but I didn't cos he really was a gayboy and he wouldn't have appreciated it.

You sure you're telling the truth midnightrider LOL!!!!! Well I just sort of knew you would get a high score - and I definitely knew you would beat me!!!!

I guessed a few questions myself - that one about who closed Woodstock, I said Hendrix but come to think of it, I'm not sure now. I know he was definitely there but I don't think he was last on. In fact there's some new Hendrix/Woodstock DVD coming out next month, now that's one DVD I am definitely going to get. It's nearly the 35th anniversay of his death as well, this Sunday. My favourite Hendrix song was actually voted Best Cover Version Song Of All Time recently - All Along The Watchtower - just how awesome is that song.

Haha 74% that's garbage Crusader - Metalheads eh, well I guess both you and Valanx are just sulking cos me and Midnightrider got way better scores than youse!!!! We just rock like hell plain and simple lol!!!!!

Boring and lame - what do you mean Crusader - they mentioned Dire Straits, the first band I ever saw - yeah but you're right they were BORING AND LAME!!! No that's not strictly true, they were good live cos that was my first concert and my first introduction to the Glasgow Apollo which became my second home after that Dire Straits concert, but luckily enough I got on the road to rock soon after that concert, next band I saw I think was Whitesnake after DS.

My score I will never know..the website doesn't accept my Po box number, it says it doesnt exist :yell: but I really dont think this is a valid test at all. Are people stupid when they dont know anything about the beatles? I guess not..I never liked the beatles and I will never do... There should have been a question like : Heavy metal band with classic shout it out Wheels Of Steel..Whats the bands name..Not one single question concerning Saxon..What a stupid test:grin:

Heavycelli try the test again and when you've finished it just type in your date of birth and then click You're Done, then it gives you your score, don't bother with the other bit about joining the group thing. I know what you mean though, imagine a classic rock quiz with no mention of the mighty Saxon - it's unreal. If it was all questions about NWOBHM bands then of course I would have scored full marks, 100% no problem for me.

And I agree about the Beatles - I've always hated that band, never really understood what the big deal was there at all.

Well Jimmy Hendrix I like a lot... and that band called Yes, the only song I like änd know is "Owner of a lonely heart" And some songs of Queen I like.. The Jazz album..(My first album that I bought) "Dead on time" song and a few others on that album..

I also got 74%. And like most of the above comments the bands mentioned were:

a) boring
b) shite
c) boring & shite
d) boring & shite & too bloody old.

If you picked d):

Award yourself an extra mark, that extra 26% aint worth knowing about. Most of that 74% you got right aint worth knowing about either.

Maybe I'm on my own saying this but, The Clash, Rolling Stones, The Doors, Cream, Hendrix, Joplin never ever did a thing for me.

Add to that Pink Floyd.... Even when I was a stoned student I thought they were as boring as hell, and I detest them even more now.

Infact, over the last few years, I have wondered whether having a nail hammered through your testicle would be more interesting and pleasurable than listening to all of the above.

I am still yet to decide on this. I will have to see someone get a nail through their testicle first.... but the very thought of that :OMG:, anyone got a copy of The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn that I can listen to?

I think you might well be on your own there Matt but that's ok each to their own and all that. But holy hell how can you possibly think Hendrix is boring - that guy is a God, well was a God, the best guitarist ever to walk this planet and I'll be playing Hendrix non stop tomorrow, the 18th September being the 35th anniversary of his death!!!!!

I agree with you about Joplin though, great voice but not really my type of music and The Doors only a few of their songs I liked but was never a big fan. The Rolling Stones I quite like, got a few of their albums, now and again I listen to them. However, I got dragged along to see them at Hampden a few years ago and I have to confess they were brilliant live. GUN supported them and they were pretty good as well. They're playing here again next summer and I'm going to go and see them again, even though ticket prices are rumoured to be in excess of £100. What I've heard of Cream I've liked - Crossroads, Badge and White Room - they are ace songs!!!! And I was quite into The Clash when I was about 18, liked quite a few punky bands but then discovered Rock and realised it was waaaaaaaaaay superior!!!!!

Floyd - boring and lame, no no no. I was hardcore Floyd fan for about 10 years and hardly listened to any other albums apart from Floyd ones. I then discovered Rush and I'm afraid Floyd took a back seat. I saw Floyd as well and seeing them peform The Wall at Earls Court has got to be in my top 5 concerts of all time. The highlight of that evening was when the wall was fully built and Dave Gilmour sitting on top of it with smoke swirling all around him playing the solo at the end of Comfortably Numb. Only one word to describe that scene - ORGASMIC!!!!!!!! I still listen to Floyd but I'm not as huge a fan as I once was, but I still think they're one of the best bands of all time. And if I was stranded on a desert island and could only take one album, it would be a very hard choice between DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and Diamond's Head Lightening to the Nations lol. I would probably say DSOTM is the best album of all time!!!! You want to get your ears wrapped round Interstellar Overdrive from Piper at the Gates of Dawn - its a classic. Download it the noo and see what you think.
