Only in the past year have I started to get into metal (Devin Townsend, Om, Made out of Babies, Battle of Mice to name) but what other genres do you entertain beyond of metal?
I'm a classical singer and I tend to listen to a lot of music from the Impressionist period and beyond. Debussy is probably my favorite composer. Twentieth century American art song is really growing on me. I love Samuel Barber, he can be so quirky at times, but he really brings certain texts to life through composition (Hermit Songs is a prime example). Totally love Israel Citkowitz and Amy Beach is also pretty cool.

I've been getting into volkmusik German lieder, art song as well, like Hugo Wolf. I've been also experimenting a bit with Wagner's Ring Cycle. And John Adam's Nixon in China, shit is awesome.
