CLIP: in flames - worlds within the margins

i saw a thread where there was a powerball clip of dead eternity, so i thought i would post this clip i did yesterday, and get some thoughts on the guitar tone.

ltd mh300 emg81> 5150 combo> sm57> m audio mobile pre> C4/eq
bass was fender jazz, direct, with some eq and comp. drums were reason 2.

A bit too sludgy to my taste, sort of... loose.

The lead (center of stereo field) sounds too dull, it seems to be making the whole thing sound duller than what im assuming it is....if that mukes sense

That's pretty cool man. I like the pure 5150-ness radiating from that clip.

I think as the others have mentioned, it is a bit sludgey. You want to tighten up those low-mids somewhat, give the rhythms a bit more crunch, don't get too mid-crazy. And as I always say... highs, highs, highs... give them more

Good stuff though man.

EDIT: yeah, I just listened to the actual track. The rhythms are way more crunchy/scooped. You really have to clear up some room in those mids for everything else to fit in.

But man, you got me listening to the album again... In Flames was where it was at for me. They were the beginning and end of the melodic death sound as far as I'm concerned. Shame about what they're doing now. But anyway \m/
