I have little (big) problem with clipping in overheads mics while recording drums.
I'm using two Rode NTK mic and Digi 002R. There is no pad on micpre on DIGI 002 so I have to use mic pre on my TASCAM 688 Midistudio. It seems it has much more headroom then Digi 002.
Is there any extrenal pad or some other solution to decrease amount of signal coming from mic to preamp?

Thanx
Martin

Sorry for grammar. :)

Does the clipping only happen during the snare hits or all the time ? I had the similar problem, the little red light flashing when the snare was being hit, but as 24 bits recording, it wasn't noticeable. Do you actually hear the clipping ?

Yes, I can hear it. With DIGI 002 clipping occure all the time. With TASCAM i had gain at lowest level, but also push fader down. This way is much more better.

I heard somewhere, that Neutrik are making some form of pad in their conectors, but I can not find that on their site :-(

you can get in-line pads... mic cables with a pad built into them. cheaper than buying new mics with pads... how close are you to the OH's?.. try backing off a bit.
