Clockwork-Surface Tension

I love how Clockwork even gets overlooked in this thread.

Yep....although in fairness, this thread has become a nifty "remember when?" resource for bands I've been digging out of CD-tray obscurity here.

(I mean, Timothy Pure? I think they even played Dragon*Con once, back in the Iced Earth/Spock's Beard days. :OMG:)

Depending on your personal "good CD" count, another gone and -- sadly -- largely forgotten prog band is also a ProgPower alumnus: Superior.

Clockwork-Surface Tension

IS anyone else familiar with this album/band. From my understanding this is only album they made and broke up. Amazing album, very Early Dream Theaterish.

HIGHLY RECOMENDED

Any Opinions?

BTW..... What other bands have had one or two great Albums and then just broke up.....

sava_FREAK.

***Clockwork also has a 4-song demo EP called "Search".

IN all fairness, I did open up the post to see if there were any other out-there kinda one or two off bands that I missed

OK, so Clockwork had an E.P. or two.....Where do I find them.....Any ideas..

Killer thread. I remember buying Search in 1997 direct from the band. Some really great Petrucci-style guitar chops to go along with heartfelt and intriguing vocals (not the operatic stylings typical of 90s prog metal). Above all that, really good song writers, not just following some cheap wannabe formula. Great use of melody and exceptional lyrics. Surface Tension is one of the genre's best albums ever, and Search has some undeniably remarkable tracks too.

So many other great bands mentioned in this thread ... Ice Age, Divine Regale, Altura, Superior.

Not really progressive, but anyone remember the Swedish band Masquerade? Surface of Pain was a really solid disc and Flux's "Back on Earth" was one of the catchiest songs to ever appear on a Metal Blade record. I played the heck out of it on my college rasio show. Had it been released in an era of true rock radio it would have been a sensational hit.
