*sigh* I just sent off my first application to college. I really want to get into this college. It seems that the admission process is becoming more and more difficult to colleges in general. Everyone is going now. :p I am fairly confident. Wish me luck... :D

I applied to NC State. It is in Raleigh, NC..a couple of hours from Charlotte. I want to do either computer engineering or computer science, and they have one of the top 5 or 6 engineering programs in the country.

There are a lot of tech companies in Raleigh so getting an internship in college or job straight out of college would be no problem.

I am just worried that my SAT score won't be high enough. I took it twice and got the same score. My grades and other stuff make up for it. Thanks!

I just graduated from La Trobe University in Australia, so I'm at the other end of the spectrum.

Goodluck to everyone about to begin the voyage.

Next year I'll be at Melbourne Uni...

I'm applying for Uni. at the moment as well. Filling out the UCAS form for application to Universities in Britain as I speak in fact :)

I'm applying for :
Imperial College (environmental science)
Reading (env.sci.)
Edinburgh (env.sci)
Cardiff (journalism)
Westminster (journalism)
York (politics)

:)
Anyone else going to university in Britain?

OpethianSoul-I'm finishing up a M.S. degree right now at NC State. Did my undergrad here as well. Good school overall. Good luck with your application.

College. Studying. It's been too long for me. That college application process is a pain in the ass - I had to help my son go through it.

All I can say is - good luck - hope you get in where you want.

Then - the course selection:eek:

i'm at bristol uni atm (doing Economic and Social History)...i went to York uni as well a few years before that (doing Economics and Economic and Social History with Politics)...

i've noticed from americans i've spoken to that the whole college application thingy is taken so much more seriously than it is over here...i just put a tick in a box and forgot about for 6 months, passed my exams (tho still got slightly less than predicted), and they let me in...i couldn't even remember what course i had put down  ... the how process of applying took about 6 hours all in...

Ordeith...York's a great uni (alot nicer than Bristol where i am now)...it is in a really small town tho, so if you're into going to clubs and gigs it'll cost quite a bit in travel...Imperial and 'burgh are great uni's too...not to sure about Westminister and Reading tho...and cardiff is in wales :)

I think the course selection process has become fairly painless recently. I heard horror stories from my parents, but here at UMCP it's all electronic, you can do everything from the dorm (or a computer lab, or whatever). In fact I'm registering for next semester on tuesday. I hope I get the Tolkien seminar ;)

Thanks. That's very cool. I am going to be there Monday to take a college day and visit the campus. I need to get acquainted with it and just talk to the admissions people.
