Hey everyone, new member here, and a fairly new Opeth fan as well. I'll be seeing one of their headlining off-PN shows in a general admission show in Spokane with BTBAM, and I'm just wondering what to expect from the crowds. Will there be moshing, thrashing around, etc? I wanna get as close as possible but don't want to get my shit kicked in the process!

During the heavy parts there will probably be some moshing, but not too much. If youre near the front, you might get bumped around a bit. Hope you have a good time :kickass:

I've never been either, in all the years I've been listening to them. Thinking of going to the Boston show. How is their live sound? Roundhouse sounds amazing: Very clear quality but still LIVE sounding, and not too overproduced like some other bands do (live Kamelot, for instance, doesn't even sound live).

Is Roundhouse a true representation of what to expect at an actual gig, sound-wise?

This will be my first Opeth concert to when they come to NY and I was actually wondering the exact same question.

I'll point you toward this old thread that discusses many of the things you've mentioned:

Concert Behavior

When Opeth headlines, most people know how to act properly. But you can expect to see several obnoxious fans at the Progressive Nation shows.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the whole mosh pit, crowd surfing bullshit either. I haven't been to a Dream Theater or Opeth show yet, but I wouldn't expect a lot of moshing during DT. I wouldn't expect prog, in general, to promote much surfing/moshing. I could be wrong though...
