It's not registering as being installed or even connected. Rebooting doesn't work. It's as if it's not even there. Any ideas?

Gavin Crikey Apr 17, 2001 662 1 18 48 Dec 11, 2006 #2 go to control panel, system hardware tab, open device manager. can you see the device here maybe with a cross through it? if yes, right click and chose enable. is it a removalble dvd drive? if yes, unplug it and see if you notice the list change. plug in again and see if it tries to install itself.
