Conception fans rejoice!

I was just listening to "In Your Multitude" earlier today! Conception is amazing... I can't wait to hear more Conception music. I read an interview with Khan earlier this year or last... when he mentioned the possibility of the band reuniting for 2004.

I'm really suprised you don't like "Flow", Soul of Ice... I would think that would appeal to your eclectic tastes.

I love "Flow" and their earlier material. Either direction would be fine with me...

I'm okay with "Flow," but it seems a bit too influenced by alternative, and it lost a lot of the excitement and flair of earlier releases. Some pretty good songs on it, but it's always sad for me when a band with lots of guitar loses that element. "Flow" didn't have to be done with Tore Ostby on guitar. Most of it could have been done by anybody. That's what keeps it from being higher in my playlist.

The reason I dont care for Flow too much is for a few reasons...

The excessive use of reverb on Khan's vocals (I believe a lot of reverb is a tool of the weak singers) and he really does not need it.

Riffs were kinda boring and samey, big let down from such a HUGE talent that is Tore

Too many electronics - made the whole experience seem inorganic and cold

Lyrics seemed a little trite. Parallel Minds and In Your Multitude were awesome and heartfelt.

Also Khan used more of a limited vocal range, not as much of a falsetto yell.

It was more of an experimental record but far from the original formula which made them so great in the first place.

Most people seem to like "Flow" the best because their most commercial attempt, but to me they reached their apex at Parallel Minds. Every song was awesome, diverse, and the perfect mix of prog and power. Parallel had some real attitude to it, while Flow seemed kind of sterile and predictable.

Don't get me wrong it is a good album with some good songs, but just not as great as their first 3

Thats all I have to say about that

I too don't care for Flow all that much. When I think of Conception, the first three albums all represent what I think is the best of the band. Let it be known that I also prefer the first Ark (for the most part) over Burn The Sun... So it's anyone's guess where Tore Ostby's head will be at when it comes time for the writing sessions for this new album.

Then there's Jorn Lande and Kamelot which I've become indifferent to lately..

Yes, even though In Your Multitude is their best song. One thing I did not like about In Your Multitude was that every song was mid-paced, Parallel minds was very diverse.

Parallel Minds is my favorite as well. To me it displays best the essence of what was great about Conception, and was balanced in song type. In Your Multitude had some great stuff on it, but did get a little redundant having so much of it slowed down. Flow had moments of greatness, and moments that were Conception as only Conception could be, but way too much of it was way too generic. Like I said before, it could have been done by anybody else. It didn't have to be Conception. It seemed like a waste of good talent to me. It would be hard to tell that it was Conception without Khan's voice.
