could have belladonna replaced dickinson in maiden when bruce left?

I always heard the rumour that ex-Helloween singer, Michael Kiste was is line to replace Bruce given the similarities in their vocal style. What happened to Kiste anyway? He was sensational on the two 7 Keys albums.

Michael Kiske published a statement a few months ago in which he said that he left the metal scene because it would be narrow-minded and inferior and that he wanted to find the better things in life. He is definitely a crazy one too - anyway, I was never too fond of his style and always preferred Kai Hansen to him.

What? You guys can't be serious. I dont think Joey has the lungs to hang with some of those maiden classics. I mean really. He had a better shot at getting the Journey gig after Steve Perry left.

 He sounds more like a Steve Perry than a Dickinson to me.

Anyone joining Maiden in the 90s would have been tarnishing their own career. The creativity just wasn't there for Maiden at that time(a whole decade). I'd like to think that any singer could have made Virtual Donky Turd and the The Suck Factor better but I just think it would have been an exercise in futility fighting against the staleness of Harris and Co. at the time.It wasn't just the Blaze albums either, No Prayer and Fear also sucked the big one. That band died when Adrian Smith left and suprise suprise, was resurrected when Adrian returned. Just imagine if The Chemical Wedding was a Maiden album and came after Seventh Son. Maiden like to blame the direction that Grunge and ALternative metal took at the time for their lacklustre album sales in the 90s, but the truth is they were just in a creative funk and couldn't write a decent song(musch less a decent album), to save their lives

i disagree fear of the dark, signs of the cross, clansman, blood on the worlds hands,be quick or be dead, afraid to shoot strangers all nineties songs are are great, granted there are a few bad ones.

I agree, Maiden is stagnating since Seventh Son.

I think only part of the problem was Blaze - when I saw them in Chicago on the "Virtual XI" tour, he was out of tune on many of the Bruce-era songs.

But I think a bigger problem was that Harris wasn't willing to give up more control over the songwriting. If I remember correctly, Blaze only co-wrote one or two songs - and one of them, "Futureal," while not the greatest song Maiden ever did, wasn't terrible. I can't say the same for "The Angel & The Gambler," with a chorus that was far too repetitive.

Don't get me wrong, Maiden is Harris's band, so he has the right to call the shots. But I think if he'd have been a little more open to some fresh ideas, things may have turned out a little better. Plus, "The X Factor" really wasn't a bad album at all.

Just my thoughts, anyway...

I totally agree. X-Factor and Virtual XI are really good albums. But Joey in Maiden? No way...
