I just thought that it would be cool to have Crack the Sky play at ProgPowerUSA, maybe at the Preshow or something. They're a great rather unknown prog rock band formed in the 70s. They're actually still together. Check out the Animal Notes and Safety in Numbers albums. They had alot of great things going on. I have no idea how this band never went big.

Never even thought about this band being at a Progpower, but I figured i'd post on the topic. Crack The Sky is one of Baltimore's most revered rock bands, although the majority of their popularity stems from the 70s. It's pretty funny that almost every middle aged rockers in the area says that they knew someone from the band, haha. Of course they very well could've, it's just interesting that EVERYONE says it. I think even my dad said it, way back when being 7 years and hearing HOT RAZORS IN MY HEARRTTT, haha. Cheers!!

Well, everyone you meet in Athens, Georgia has met at least one member of R.E.M., so it's probably the same thing.

I remember Crack the Sky very fondly -- at one time it seemed like they had exactly two fans in Atlanta, and 96rock's Willard (longtime deejay) was the other one. "From the Greenhouse" got some occasional airplay here, usually thanks to Willard. :kickass:

They are a great band, especially live. I don't think they're a good band for PP, though, as very few people would be familiar with them, and they're not especially "metal".

They play here in Baltimore a couple of times a year. Their next show is at the Recher Theater in Towson at the end of November. I suggest going if you have the chance. And if you do go, be sure to get a burger at the Rec Room next to the theater before the show, as they rule!

I saw them. Think it was January or February of 1976 at The Scottish Rite Cathedral in Philly. Here's the bill:

Crack the Sky - opened
Barclay James Harvest
Bee Bob Deluxe - headlined

Of course I went to see Barclay James Harvest.

Didn't realize Crack the Sky was still around.

Agreed. I don't think they're a very good match for ProgPower. I couldn't imagine seeing them play either the festival or pre-show. They just wouldn't fit right IMO.

I'd recommend checking out "Ice", "Nuclear Apathy", "Song for Another Year", "Maybe I Can Fool Everybody (Tonight)", and "Give Myself to You"
