It's black metal for the hoddie generation. It's nothing Emperor didn't do first, Properly.

Get Emperor, Mayhem, Marduk and Darkthrone, then listen to any COF and laugh your arse off.

I don't even think CoF is Black Metal to be perfectly frank. They basically use Maiden/Slayer-type riffage and add an odd vox (Dani Filth is crazy) and some organs. Black metal in the vein of Emperor (who btw are (were) the kings of black metal) and Mayhem is totally different. Even BM warriors like Immortal have turned into thrash bands....I see the genre turning more melodic by the day. In any event, CoF is more of a thrash band with "BM elements" imo....not a BM band per say.

CoF fucking rocks. i dont care if half their fanbase is little goth kids that are trying to piss off mommy and daddy by wearing nail polish and dyeing their hair. thats fine with me, easier to push em aside at concerts and get to the front. and dani has a great voice and a crazy vocabulary. fuck black metal right in the ear. CoF have nothing in common with that stuff besides goofy face paint. so whatever, ill take dusk..and her embrace over transelvanian hunger any day of the fuckin week.

eh, the production on that cd is pretty muddy. i dont really like the guitar tone much. i have it on an old mp3 backup cd somewheres...perhaps ill get it out and give it a listen...i might like it more now than when i first heard it and dismissed it.
