Cradle of Filth

Nah, not that bad. Except the vocals.

Dusk... And Her Embrace kicks ass, epic black metal in a slick sort of style, but not sterile like I find most acts of the "faggoth" persuasion.

Cruelty and the Beast is pretty good, aside from the terrible snare drum and vocals.

The rest ranges from below average to shite, I haven't paid attention to them since Bitter Suites That Suck Fat Ass though.

Their last one was interesting, with all the huge real orchestra symphonies etc. Bombastic string sections, cheesy narrative, movie soundtrack style, gothic extreme metal. If you don't like that huge pompous sound, then avoid. It's like Rhapsody with Danni Filth on da mic.

See PJ's review.

I used to really like them, but the long forgettable songs put me off by the time Bitter Suites came out. I listened to that once or twice and haven't touched them since. The only thing that bugs me about them is being only able to remember, say, two minutes from an eight minute song, across almost every song on an album.

You all are gay and must not listen very well. I can remember an entire fucking opus. That being said, the new album is very stripped compared to the last one. Interesting vocal patterns, very rhythmic, effects used from time to time...

I've always loved Dani's vocals, but I'm not a pussy. :D

It's interesting how Papa LOVES Cradle of Filth, Manowar, and Dimmu Borgir. I can't imagine how much defending he would need to do in the GMD....these bands seem to be either loved or despised. Very few listeners seem to be specifically indifferent about these bands, it's always one or the other.... o_O

I like Dusk... because it sounds like gothic death metal, the keyboards and atmosphere really bring it home. It's the only one (that I've heard) that isn't cartoony at all.

dusk and cruelty are my favorites from them. the rest of the records have some good songs and some so-so songs. i do plan to check out nymphetemine though.
