creating and mixing bass drops?

Hey guys!
most bass drop samples I hear are either sine wave drops or 808 kicks...
However, I find the bass drop samples "For Today" used on their Album "Portraits" to have so much more punch than any sample I've ever heard or created...

Check them out! It's insane how they blast in your face.

My question is: How do I make exactly these samples and mix them into my songs to sound so heavy?
Thanks in advance for any answers :)

They sound huge because of the lack of bass the rest of the mix has. just filter off everything below 90 hz and throw a sub drop in there. sounds huge. Also, learn which notes are in direct correlation with the key the song is in.

You are dealing with a finite limit of headroom. if you want a particular are of frequency to stand out, that area needs to be clear of opposing signal.

Yeah... I've noticed the lack of low end in the mix, especially in the kick.
But I find the sample very interesting... doesn't sound like a standard sine wave sweep

I'm not sure it's quite that simple.. I've tried on various occasions to creat exactly that sample but failed

I had a good outcome with sidechaining the drop to the rendered/mastered mix. multi band sidechain just the under 80hz area and its good to go.
