Crippler / Oldschool Deathmetal from Finland

Hey!

I didn't track and record this, but the mix session was entirely left for me.
Interesting and kinda respectful part was that they didn't want me to edit their drums and guitars at all. So all the mic bleed is there in snare and kick and all.

Only 20% trigger sample used in snare from their actual kit, and then in the kickdrum, other than that, the whole shebang is "natural" just mixed.

Interesting and really challenging project, but i enjoyed it and i think the result is loyal to the oldschool genre, check it out and like them in Facebook!

Believe it or not, but Marshall valvestate vs100 and Marshall 1960 cab with the original speakers. sm58 and some thomann condenser mic for room (that played a big part in the mix)

Thanks for the feedback guys, definetly would be more refreshing if more bands at least in this kind of genre would have more balls and just standout in a record as they stand in live situation.

Sounds good! Very old school....but again the mix is somewhat too transparent for this music. I don't know how you mix but do you use any analog simulation plugins (Slate VCC/VBC/VTM or Sonimus Britson for example)? I think the mix could be further improved having it a bit gruffed up.

A side note, the toms should really be retriggered , it's the only thing letting the drum sound down. I don't understand this thing against improving a drum sound through "unatural means". Like a guitar with heavy distortion is in its natural state lol
