Technical deathmetal band I just finished mixing

Just finished mixing & mastering three songs for an Icelandic tech death band called Ophidian I. These guys are very young and I think they have a lot of potential judging from these tunes.

Due to a lot of cymbal bleed on the toms and the fact that they were hardware gated pretty badly during the recording, the toms are a bit low in the mix. The bass drum is triggered but and I blended a sample very low with the snare.

It was my first ever mix in Pro Tools (just bought version 9) so I learned a lot in the process. I mastered the tracks using Cubase 5.

The music should fit right in with fans of technical deathmetal bands like Obscura, Necrophagist, Odius Mortem.

the mix could use a bit more clarity. the elements aren't really sitting together as well as they could.

really liking this guitar tone (what did you use for them?), although the drums are a bit low in the mix.

also, the whole mix is lacking low end over all.

this is pretty good music for their age (depending on your definition of young!).

doesn't sound bad but I'm not a huge fan of tech for the sake of being tech (ala necrophagist, obscura, etc)
