Cubase issue- VST connection lost

I've been working on a recording and mix with a friends band for a while now, and just as I'm putting the finishing touches on it to get paid this weekend Cubase starts crashing whenever I open and then go to close my Nomad Retrology plugins. It gives me an error advising that the VST connection has been lost.

What's wierder about it all (to me) is that once I reopen cubase, every instance of those plugins have reset to defult settings. Quite annoying.

I paid for these plug ins, before anyone trys to accuse me of that.

Anyone have a clue as to what is happening and how to stop it?

Oh, Cubase 5 btw. Still yet to update and this also happens with another plugin whoes name I can't remember, but that one is free, so I thought it was just buggy.

if the plugins are buggy, don't use them.

The free one did it right from the start, easy to not use. The Nomad ones only just started after a year. I'd at least like to be able to finish these mixes with them
