Ok so i would like to switch completly over to Reaper for Tracking editing and mixing except for one flaw thats holding me back and thats the count in when i program a tempo or time signature change the metronome counts the last two bars and then switchs once and it throws everyone completly off its just not possible to record like that for me and any clients.

Now in cubase it counts in 2 bars but its with the tempo of the bar thats the starting point.

Pretty much if the bar im going to record is 7/8 i want it to count in 7/8 not the tempo or time signature of the previos two bars or if the bars 190 bpm i dont want it to count in 150 and then switch to 190 i just can't figure it out in reaper -__- very frustrating.

i hope i explained this clear enough.

thanks

this is the sole reason i don't use reaper for anything except editing it drives me nuts , if i could change it i would in a heartbeat and be in DAW bliss haha

I've come to realize this same problem.

You can always just slide the Time Sig Marker over a few bars for the take, then move it back, right?

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me, moving time sig markers has caused me huge amounts of trouble before, god forbid you have any midi track cause it'll obliterate the second you move a time sig marker

Move your rhythm tracks forward two (7/8) bars. set a marker at your new punch in point. And when you're done, move your newly tracked rhythms back.

Reaper with midi? it's getting there.

ok so heres the problem with that its extremely time consuming if you need to track a whole bar of music and piece it together^ i would be way simpler if you can just have it count 1234 and go from any grid line you choose

I've complained about this a lot too, I use plenty of odd times. Hopefully it's coming in R4.

What I do for now is turn off the metronome, and create a track up the top, then Insert-Click Source. (I actually prefer click source as it gives you more instant control over the volume and routing etc.)

Then I select a bar or 2 of the current tempo from the marker, making sure the click source item is selected, and run this custom macro:

There it is, a bar or 2 of the current tempo click. And if you hit T, it'll toggle back to the 'real' tempo.

Hope it works for you guys, I've been using for ages with no problems, and I just tested it, but you never know with other's systems.

Here's a vid of it in action (no sound sorry):

(It definitely doesn't work when you are right up close to the start of the project and have a tempo change on bar 2, and a rendered bar won't fit...but otherwise, it should.)

EDIT: you need the sws plugin installed, everyone should have that anyway or you lose mucho functionality: http://www.standingwaterstudios.com/new.php
