curse of the 1st album.

By the way, I saw Bruce Kulick live in Melbourne last night with a backing band and singer who sounds just like Paul and he played a 2 hour set of 95% non-makeup era Kiss songs! He played stuff like Who Wants To Be Lonely, Turn On The Night, Hide Your Heart, Forever, Heart Of Chrome, Tough Love, I Just Wanna, God Gave Rock & Roll To You, I'll Fight Hell To Hold You, Crazy Crazy Nights, When The Walls Come Down, Uh All Night, Tears Are Falling, Jungle, King Of The Mountain etc and opened the show with Creatures Of The Night!!!

:headbang: :headbang:

I also met him for the 3rd time and got my Bruce Kulick Hot Licks video signed! He rocks! It's the 3rd time he's toured Australia in 3 years now, and always hangs around to meet everybody afterwards. I saw his first ever solo show which was here in 2002 as well! As he says, he loves coming to Australia, especially Melbourne because he can't get over how Kiss-crazy we are here!

Forte "Stranger Than Fiction"
Angelwitch-same
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty
but above all is the amazing debut and best NWOBHM album imo "Give Em Hell" of WITCHFYNDE
all they did after that was so little

There are several bands that had that problem. You have your whole life to write your first release and one or two years to write your next. One that comes to my mind that wasn't mentioned is Tesla's "Mechanical Resonance." It was absolutely stellar and though the follow-up "The Great Radio Controversy" was a fine release, it wasn't even close to the first.

Good call, man. As they all have said, a lot of bands have had a 2nd album letdown, and never recalled the 1st in intensity. But Tesla's Mechanical Resonance album has to be one of the best 1st albums of all time!!! (in comparison to all their others) I wore that album out...twice!!! I bought it on cassette twice, years before I replaced it with the cd format. As you say, they put out pretty decent work after that, but that first album, wow!!! I have other Tesla albums, but I might listen to them once a year, but MR, I still listen to it every 2 weeks or so. :worship:

..........would've sounded better with Paul singing because he is by far the best vocalist in the band, and a very underrated rock vocalist all round in my opinion as he doesn't get the respect as a singer that he deserves.

I have no problem with Gene singing or when Eric Carr did Peter's Beth. Some of the "Gene" songs are fantastic songs, but Paul is far and away the best vocalist of that band. I also feel the "non-makeup era" of Kiss wasn't half bad. My favorite Kiss song is probably "I'll Fight Hell to Hold You" and that is one of Paul's most technical performances. He gets up there in range. Don't know why that song wasn't more popular.

By the way if I had to choose between Kiss' guitarists (the main 3)... you could judge based on each of their solo careers to see how good they are at writing on their own.

As opposed to writing, I am a fan of the licks and solos and Bruce smokes Ace and Vinnie. Not that ace didn't have some greatmemorable moments and Vinnie can't shred, but Bruce wasn't that far away from te George Lynchs and Vivian Campbells of the era.

I understand how people like the classic Kiss, as I do too, meaning Paul, Gene Ace and Peter, but I thought the Gene, Paul, Bruce and Eric Kiss was pretty good too.

Yep I agree totally. Bruce was the best guitarist for Kiss, and I agree that he's not far from the George Lynchs, Vivian Campbells, Warren DeMarinis etc. Top notch player! And I also think the Gene, Paul, Bruce and Eric Kiss was great. :) In fact I think it was the best Kiss.

Bruce Kulick played I'll Fight Hell To Hold you on Thursday night, great song! One of my all time favourites!

That's great ! I literally only know one other person that likes that song and I think I drilled it into his head. He's a Kiss freak, but more of a "Gene guy" as he is a bassist.

Hey, no problem - everybody has his own opinion. It's just that I really can't understand why most people trash them so much. It almost became some kind of sport it seems. And I just love every single thing they put out. Supercharger included!

Ohhh yeah Don't Come Easy is by far the best Tyketto album. Great record!
That's for sure! I still liked Strength In Numbers but I didn't care about them anymore after they changed their singer.
