Most American bands are popular because they sound extremely brutal and heavy. But don't forget the departed CYNIC. One of the finest jazz death fusion bands from the States. A pity they stopped. Somewhat different than the usual US stuff today.

Does someone else embraces this virtuous band?

Cynic rules... and on that note Atheist rules as well. They're somewhat similar. In the Death Jazz field anyways.

Cynic is absolutely amazing. I enjoy Focus more than any Atheist albums. Althought Atheist is cool too.

I like Aghora a lot, too. That rhythm section is the bomb-diggity.
