D.I. Box question

I f I'm using an app like revalver and plugging direct into my fire pod should I have a D.I. Box before the firepod? If so why? Thanks

The Firepod I believe has instrument inputs on channels 1 and 2. You could just use that, I don't know how high the quality is, but it will definitly work. Later on you could upgrade your DI path.

use inputs 1 or 2 they are meant for that purpose.

You don't need a DI as your firepod already has them as others have stated. However, a nice DI like a Radial J48 will probably get you a slightly better signal to work with - perhaps even noticeably. I haven't tested this myself with a firepod but I know that my Radial J48 slays my POD XT Live's DI over USB mode, and it also slays the Guitar Rig 2 DI, in addition to the instrument DI's on my MOTU 828 mk ii interface.
