Dammit, blast it and buggrit!

I'd planned to have a nice ol' time last night, relaxing, reading "Shadowland" by Peter Straub and listening to Powerslave.

I managed the first two items on this list all right (when do I ever do anything at night but relax and read?) but about halfway through The Duellists, the portable stereo I keep in my sleeping chambers started skipping around all over the CD like a schoolgirl hyped up on red cordial

Now, all my Maiden albums are in mint condition without a scratch or fingerprint to be found, but just in case, I tried another CD and the same thing happened. Time to chuck it and buy that nice new Panasonic one I think...

Weren't you getting some sort of super duper stereo with extra bells AND whistles, not to mention pretty blinking lights not so long ago?

I did . That was a home theatre setup for the living room. This, on the other hand, is a portable for my sleeping quarters. Haven't managed to put those speakers in the bathroom yet, but I'll get there
