Its times like this i feel glad i live in the UK again, even if the poorness (sic) of Download has left me making a trip to France for Hellfest.
GERMAN thrash kings KREATOR will headline this year's DAMNATION FESTIVAL.
The metal legends will raise the flag of hate at the UK's premier metal event with a full slot which will do their impressive back catalogue justice.
They will be joined by US punk metallers AMEN and a triple bill of black and death metal talent in KATAKLYSM, 1349 and ABORTED.
UK doom will also be showcased in the shape of ORANGE GOBLIN who plan to plunder the country in support of their Healing Through Fire album.
The stunning haul of diverse acts is just the first batch of the 18 bands who will grace the stage at Damnation Festival, in Leeds Met Uni, on Saturday October 20.
And Aborted already have their sights on invading a Terrorizer Stage bill which will include some of the UK's finest homegrown live performers.
Frontman Sven de Caluwé said: "It's been in the pipelines for way too long and we are glad to announce to our UK fans out there that we ARE coming over in October on tour and are thrilled to be booked on the DAMNATION FESTIVAL in Leeds.
"Hopefully we'll see a lot of you guys out there and get pissed!
"This should be a good dose of fun since these will be the first UK dates with Danny boy. Cheers!"
2007 will top an incredible history that includes The Haunted, Entombed, Raging Speedhorn, Sikth, Akercocke, Skindred and a farewell show by hardcore favourites Stampin' Ground.
More top bands and a slew of British talent will be announced over the coming months for what is set to be the biggest, loudest Damnation Festival yet.
Tickets prices will be kept to £19.50 for the first few weeks as a small thanks to the dedicated fans who have supported Damnation festival since 2005.
In June the ticket price will rise to £22.
Festival spokesman Gavin McInally said: "There's nothing in the country that will buy you more pleasure for that price, not even in Soho!
"To have a band like Kreator - who grace main stages at some of the world's biggest festivals - play at Damnation is pretty special and with the likes of Amen coming across for their first UK show in years, the Jagermeister Stage will be a bill which is second to none.
"As for the Terrorizer Stage, the triple headline bill of Aborted, 1349 and Kataklysm is just the beginning of how ugly and extreme it is going to get throughout the day.
"It's also great to land Orange Goblin, our fans have been patient in their wait for some quality doom at Damnation, and we're glad to finally oblige.
"As a thanks for all their support, cheap early bird style tickets will be on sale for a month, after that we'll be forced to bump the prices up a few pounds to stay in business!
"Our community means everything to this festival and we hope Damnation Festival 2007 does them proud.
"Genuinely, by the fans, for the fans!"
