Danny Carey of Tool?

I concur with all the praises. I'm not a drummer at all, but Danny's drumming is absolutely crazy. When I saw Tool live, he clearly stole the show. The drumming on Lateralus is amazing, his best work yet.

Muahahaha! Yes yes yes, Danny Carey is marvelous! but yes so is Mike Portnoy...
I'm just in awe when I hear his awesomeness in Aenima. He's great when he doesn't even need to be!!! He's just great for the fun of it, not out of necessity, and that's great greatness o.O

Danny Carey is amazing, although on some of their earlier releases the drumming isn't at the forefront of the mix and you have to pay attention to catch all the nuances. Even the understated stuff he does is incredible. I admire him because he's not about speed but about rhythm. It is impossible to listen to The Grudge, Ticks and Leeches or Triad and not have the drum patterns move you.

He is good in a different way from Martin, they play different styles... but I must say I admire him a lot.

He's on my top 3 drummers list (along with Portnoy and...I can't believe no one else has mentioned him...Richard Christy, formerly of Death - GO BUY THE SOUND OF PERSEVERANCE .) Love his style. Some of his stuff is insanely complicated. Like someone else said, I love how he stresses rhythm over speed. His work on Lateralus is amazing.

If that Martin78 is Lopez...

I bow down to your greatness, your drumming inspires me.

ps. Hehe, sucking up is fun.

Oh yeah and Danney Carey is fucking awesome!!

Well I'm a drummer; not a very good one, but still.

Tool is my favorite band, and he is definately one of the reasons for that.

Get his live drum solo off of Kazaa. Its a great example of what you guys were saying earlier, how everything seems so effortless, but when you listen closely its complicated as all hell.

I'd love to hear him do a side project of some sorts, that really just let him go wild.

Tool was my favorite band for a long time...... and I had always known that Danny Carey was an awesome drummer..... but I didn't realize just how brilliant he was rhythm-wise until I heard the song "Lateralus"..... during the quiet bridge with just Justin's bass playing, then the hi-hat comes in...... the whole drumming during that section is so complex rhythm-wise..... it really blew me away the first time I heard it..... he is my favorite drummer.....
