It's definitely Danzig... the sound is very distinctive... and not really groundbreaking, either. But still, since I'm a huge Danzig fan I really like the new album. Its pretty heavy in comparison to some of the newer stuff. I'd say its good for even a casual Danzig fan. A step up from 777.
Danzig is a god. However, his last 3 albums or so have unfortunately not been godlike. If I get a chance to listen to it, I will, but I'm in no rush. He needs to produce the seductive, wicked, jazz/blues influenced music that John Christ helped create to really interest me.
I'm a huge Danzig fan but not a huge fan of Circle of Snakes. It has everything to make a great Danzig album, but I'm just not really into it. Yet. 777 took me awhile to get into, here's hoping the same.
The only real poor Danzig album is Satan's Child (except 13 which is one of the Greatest. Songs. EVAR.).
