As for pure ambient stuff... I've found Sephiroth to be enjoyable.

Tenhi and Nest are both fucking excellent bands, but neither are dark ambient. they're neo-folk...as acknowledged in the previous post *cough* (though Nest may be considered something else)

To be honest, I haven't really liked that much from CMI, a lot of what I've listened to from them has been more like noise ambient. I prefer the kind of ambient like Kammarheit or Svartsinn.
