Hey all

I just wanted to introduce this great band from Iceland to you all. As you know they're playing at this years Headway, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to get to know them a bit before they play there.

Their first full-length album is just around the corner, not sure if it will be finished though before Headway, but the band has put two mp3s from it on their homepage at http://darkharvest.helviti.com (for those interested it should be noted that “helviti” means Hell in Icelandic :) ). Check out the links:

What happens when you take three of Iceland’s most known and well respected metal musicians and put them together? You get Dark Harvest, Iceland’s only metal supergoup, a band that could easily be referred to as the Icelandic national team of Heavy Metal, if there ever was one. The music of Dark Harvest is mostly heavy instrumental rock, where each instrument is played to the fullest.

When the band hit the live scene back in 2002, shortly after its inception, they made a big impact, drawing a lot of attention and turned a lot of heads, especially for their exceptional playing abilities. When they recorded their first demo MCD Deeper in 2003, they quickly sold that one out. This album featured a few tracks with vocals laid down by hired gun Jenni of the band Brain Police, Iceland’s foremost stoner metal band that opened for Metallica in Iceland in 2004. After extended live appearances throughout 2003 and 2004, the band was invited to play live on Icelandic national television. A video of that can be found on the band’s website.

The band has made a lot of fans in Iceland throughout its short existence and as a result they have been chosen to open up for numerous foreign bands in Iceland, among them Instil from Holland, Tyr from the Faroe Islands, Evergrey, Amon Amarth and Freak Kitchen from Sweden, Dead After School from the UK and The Fucking Champs, Last Crack, Alabama Thunderpussy, Good Clean Fun, Minus The Bear and Mastodon from the USA.

The band entered Studio I.V. in Reykjavik in 2005 to record their debut self titled full length CD. This album contains 10 tracks and is mixed and mastered by former Hatesphere member Ziggy at Zigzound studios in Denmark. The album is scheduled for release in March 2006.

With the new album on the horizon and an appearance at Holland’s Headway Festival in April 2006, the future is bright for these maniacs of Icelandic metal.
