I figure there's enough metallica threads floating around here :)

now what i'm wondering is if he mainly used that rig for live purposes, or if that's actually the rig we hear on the album. because we all know around here that andy reamps most (if not all) of the guitars that end up on the cd.

it was actually, the line 6 worked out surprisingly well. Which was lucky as it must have cost a fortune to bring that fridge of gear over.

It's a great sound. I think that rack unit was based on the HD147 firmware, which serves to explain why it sounds as good as it does. I wish Line 6 would continue in that direction. I've heard that the team that designed the HD147 left the company to form Damage Control.

I prefer tubes regardless, but the Bogner Fish and Triple Giant are unavailable at any price!

+1, i'd prefer the tube preamp sound over digital preamps any day, but andy you certainly did get a kickass sound for the album. perhaps since dave is just using the prophecy now, someone could persuade him to use some real tube preamps on their next album :heh:

He's using Marshalls for his tone these days, as he used to before he was with Line 6 (which didn't last long.) The Rocktron is just for effects, right?

I'd like to hear more about this Damage Control...

Cool company making some interesting pedals:

I gave the Demonizer a spin for a few months and found it wasn't my thing, it didn't work well with impulses and didn't sound as good to me as Line 6 amp models. Still, I like the idea and it was fun to play around with (and looked cool in my studio!)

If Damage Control released some kind of rack unit or hybrid amp I would be interested, but they seem to be fixated on releasing expensive botique pedals at the moment.

i'm sure you're right and he's using the marshalls again. funny how in the interview he liked the line 6 because it was light weight (like he doesn't have roadies) and "sounded better" than the marshalls. but then again look how many endorses he has and has been through in the past few years. but hey, if i were him i wouldn't endorse any product unless i was getting free stuff and/or paid by them either! but i've always had a thing against line 6 ever since my echo park pedal broke :waah:

Sorta wrong.

They found 70 more fish chassis's so they are making more. My friend gets number 2 in a few short weeks.

Mustaine has ~20 of the originals or some stupid number.

Aren't Langner preamps basically Bogner Fish' or are they just similar? I heard that you can get the schematic and parts off the web and build your own for about $1000 but who knows what kind of voodoo mojo dust Bogner sprinkled on them. They ought to make more than 70 more or make a new preamp. It's not like no one would buy them. They could make a damn empty rack chassis with a 1/4" jack on the front and back wired straight to eachother with nothing inside call it a Bognerizer and sell a 1000 of them for $1000 a piece. I guaranfuckintoldya.

dave's always one of those guys i thought it would be interesting to meet. i think he comes off a bit pretentious on media/promo stuff, but i think behind closed doors he's a different guy. interesting vid.

I had no idea Dave ever used the Fish. Wild... I wonder if he wants to give me one.

Cool that they're doing a run of them again - I just checked and it is confirmed on the Bogner website. I wonder what the street price will be?

You hope there's a 'street' price, majority have probably been bought up by hardcore Bogner fans

All are sold out.

2.8k is the price.
