After seeing Vital Remains live tonight, I can say with clear body, soul, and mind that Dave Suzuki is the MOZART OF FUCKING METAL. Not to discredit the rest of the band, as they were most awesome, but this dude is seriously gifted. Whoever their drummer is, while certainly incredible, can barely keep up with the rhythms that mastermind created for Dechristianize. His amazing leads were flawless, and when he came out for soundcheck he played a ton of neo-classical liquid goodness that wowed the crowd. At War With God was the clear highlight, just as it is on the album.

Cattle Decapitation was okay, but nothing I haven't heard before. Good energetic singer over well played but run of the mill grind.

Only saw one of the three other bands, didn't catch the name but they were pretty good. Intense and quick grindcore with a hot pink haired banshee for a singer, a crazy slap bass player, a great big incredibly fast drummer, and a guitarist that crafted some very tasty riffs.

No Sam Adams at the bar (a pox upon thee), but I enjoyed an Amber Bock in its place. The Galaxy Theatre rules, I haven't been there for years.

Dave Suzuki is so good on both Dechristianize and Dawn of the Apocalypse, I actually think he is underused (for the guitar work). One of the biggest selling points of VR is him and his neo-classical shredding (both electric and acoustic) over those barbaric riffs.

Next album - slightly less vocals, slightly more Suzuki solos. And more strippers getting done from behind by Roman Centurions.

JayKeeley just described the perfect Vital Remains album. I could go for just a little more variety too, the songs tend to run together after awhile. That's getting nitpicky though.
