David Gilmour's new solo album

I've the album and I must say not bad it's even good, but not a masterpiece or so, but very good to relax on. You can hear some Pink Floyd influences and if you're a fan of Pink Floyd, Gilmour or the genre you sould try it out.

I personally really enjoyed the album. It had a very complete feeling to it, and left me with that emotionally zonkoed feeling as the closing notes were playing. You know, the kind where you feel like you could just fall into the stream of music and let it carry you to eternity? A similar feeling as to the end of MAYH and GR.

It is indeed very relaxed, no shred, no really heavy or especially upbeat stuff, but it's atmospheric. Great tones, on all the instruments (and vocals), and sounds like an awesome mix to me.

If you're a die-hard metalhead, avoid; if you dig softer music, this is one to check out.

David Gilmour is a pioneer in progressive music, isn't he.
Opeth has definitly some pink floyd influences in some of their tracks!

Mikael listed David Gilmour as one of his heroes on the Ghost Reveries album. Its not hard to see why. He's one of the best. Definetaly one of my top favorite guitarists

Great great album. Very mellow and trippy in most places. Very much like floyd's "Meddle" and "The Division Bell" albums.

now i want it twice as much.

Yeah, the whole album is very reminiscint of the instrumental track on "The Division Bell", "Marooned". It has that same kind of trippy, spaced out, mellow vibe to it.:kickass:

I don't like it. It's very slow, and the songs aren't that inspiring. All in all a pretty drab affair, IMO.

If you want to hear an ageing rocker playing at a pedestrian pace in his trademark style then fill your boots with this record.
