:Smokin: Anyone gonna watch the Daytona 500 today? What's your fav driver? I'm rooting for Jeff Gordon, liked him for years. I haven't watched this race since Earnhart Sr. died 2 years ago but my son loves NASCAR as do I so this is good quality time for son and dad.

I just don't see the appeal. Keep it to the floor and veer left. WOO HOO. MotoCross, now there is an entertaining red neck sport. Those guys have more to risk, and they have jumps and "whoop de whoops" and all that cool shit. But even it has its limitations as a spectator sport. I like sports where I can watch and notice the subtle sciences. Anyone who played basketball can watch an NBA game and be just as thrilled w/ the action AWAY from the ball, because you know what is going on. As a Laker fan, I can tell you, everytime Kobe scores a point, I was just as enthralled w/ what Rick Fox or Brian Shaw did to get him that shot, and chances are they never even touched the ball. I also enjoy the science of football. Because football is war. Literally, the teams are using attack strategies to get into the other teams territory. My favorite seats for NFL games are up high in the top sections of stadiums, so I can see the play calling unfold.

i did. fave driver is Jarrett. i HATE Jeff Gordon, though. if needed, i can explain why.

and, to be honest, i'm glad Michael Waltrip won it today (yea, again incase you didn't know). NOW he can enjoy the Daytona 500 win. it's amazing. he only has 3 WC wins, all 3 at Daytona, andd 2 are in the 500.

I've always been partial to Dale Jr. As long as a Chevy wins, I'm fine with that. I didn't get to watch it too much, had to go to a memorial service for a friend of mine's brother. I'm more of a fan of F-1 racing than Nascar.

Football is my favorite sport to watch though.

i like racing but i aint into nascar that much

in australia our format is v8's holdens against fords.

You are talking about the oil in your car aren't you???

Or have you finally revealed the reason behind your fascination with Buddy's homosexual undertones???????

TD and Buddy........now that would be some team work. And what the hell, throw in the Jackass that checks TD's oil and it's the homosexual version of, the uhm, GOD DAMN, 1973 KNICKERBOCKERS!!!

Teamwork in NASCAR is more than the pit crew. Teammates on the track racing, also, among other racers. Drafting and getting ahead by helping each other out. As for whoever changes your oil being able to do what they do. They work together year round on getting this exact. You're having to avoid cars going 55 mph while you're trying to change a tire. To me, that seems a lot different than the normal lube job at your local dealership. I wouldn't want to be one of those guys at all.

First off, the word "sport" should be addressed. Normally an activity of any significance will have a world championship. Without international competition, the pinnacle of NASCAR lies in a sea of motor homes, camaros, terrible eyewear, tank tops, mullets, jenny craig flunkees, and inbreeding-derived pinheads. But hey, the normal American public can relate, right?
