London's De Profundis had just returned from a whistle-stop European tour which was abundantly clear from the off as they were frighteningly tight as a band. After a lengthy 'quiet before the storm' instrumental opener all hell broke loose as they combined death and black metal with more progressive elements. The band made the lengthy, intricate, compositions seem ludicrously straightforward such was their collective musical ability. The guitarists traded extended fluid solos, whilst the six string bassist and creative drummer underpinned matters impressively. Topped off with tortured vocals this set was as good as anything you'll see on this circuit. Or indeed at far bigger venues. All in all a stunning finale for another quality Grindhouse evening.

Set list; “Intro (Ephemeral Burden)”, “Ablaze In Autumn's Fire”, “Nocturnal Splendour”, “Delusion Of Life”, “Crimson Black Bleeding”, “A Caustic Vexation”, “Cold Is The Grave”, “The Mourner”.
